The Big East is a dream...

 http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/11/tcu-athletic-director-said-a-2012-move-t.html

The reason TCU is undefeated and won't play in the BCS title game, even possibly with an Auburn loss, is because:

Del Conte called the move, "A dream that became a reality."

Star-divide

I've never been to Texas nor have I ever known anyone from there. So, anyone from the Dallas area feel that playing in the Big East is a dream?

True

Boise is something like 1500 miles from Ft. Worth. The Big 12 (-2) is really the only conference that wouldn’t have them traveling halfway across the country.

Mostly true,

USF to UConn is along the lines of 275-300 miles less than UConn to TCU. Same for Rutgers to USF vs. Rutgers to TCU. I did post elsewhere wondering the travel length and cost, but that was most first blush stuff.

My question for TCU fans is more: is this really a dream?

Well it's a dream in the sense that they're now part of "the club"

If this system’s going to be staying around for more than a few years, yes. Either that or you’re just looking for someone to pick off the low hanging fruit of the “Big East a dream? MOAR LIEK A NITEMARE LOLOL!!!!!” joke.

Exactly.

It wouldnt be their first choice, but being in a BCS league beats not being in a BCS league.

Conference homers are the lowest form of fandom. That is why the SEC has so many of them.

All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms;
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon’s mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lin’d,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper’d pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well sav’d, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion;
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Then soon to be soldier,

fighting for the object of his obsession,
but love shall fade, and with eyes shall wander

Why the Big East hate Buckeye?

With all the DERP on your face do you need someone smaller to pick on?

The BCS formula had the B10/11 behind the BE in 2006,2007,2008,and 2009. The MWC wasn’t going to take the ACC’s autobid (the last place AQ conference according to the BCS), and the best it could hope for was the MWC to get an autobid of its own, which won’t happen at all now.

The real question is: Can TCU be a member of the Big East as of January 1st so that we don’t have to see UConn in a BCS bowl?

by jerjharris on Nov 29, 2025 10:57 PM EST reply actions

WVU has this covered

we have a terrible Rutgers team to play and UConn has to play a tough USF team that went into Miami and knocked off The U with a walk-on true freshman QB playing the entire 2nd half.

I hope WVU gets it

‘cause I’d love all the hate of a VT-WVU Orange Bowl. Plenty of room to burn stuff around that Stadium. Sorry UConn, but I saw Michigan hold you to 10 points at the start of the year>>>>Michigan! and 4 loss teams don’t deserve BCS games period.

Want WVU-VT

Want very much.

West Virginia is not only the only team I like in the Big East, it’s the only team I don’t totally loathe.

CIncinnati - most miserably city in the country
Louisville - haha little brother can’t have nice things
South Florida - whore of an ex goes there
Syracuse - dislike for basketball reasons and general northernness
UConn - see Syracuse
rutgers - guidos
Pitt - I like penn state and I want you to stop taking their recruits

If you got 16, you can get a fizurth
I'm choking on that doja sweet and sipping on that sizurp

Never lived in/spent much time in Philly

But hard to imagine it ahead of Cleveland or Detriot. Cleveland’s native son superstar leaves for Miami, and all I hear is “can’t blame for wanting out of Cleveland” from my Cleveland relatives.

I know you guys haven’t spent much time in Cincy if you don’t heckle’m for fair weather fans.

I am no Buckeye apologist but....

Seriously OSU has 5 BCS bowl game wins. The Big East has 7. If you only count teams still in the conference then OSU is ahead of the Big East 5-4.

by MSULaxer27 on Nov 30, 2025 1:46 AM EST up reply actions

Since 2005

Which is when the Big East’s membership entered its current state…

The Big Ten champion is 2-3 in BCS bowl games. The Big East champion is 3-2. Granted, the Big Ten champion was usually in the BCS title game or playing Pete Carroll’s USC teams, but it’s not like ’05 Georgia or ’07 Oklahoma were exactly Pop Warner teams.

Or the '06 ACC team Louisville took down in the Orange Bowl

Oh, wait, that was Wake Forest. Nevermind.

Hey Oliver Luck, I absolutely hate that WVU is "the winningest college football team to have never won a National Championship". You think you could do something about that?

Big East isn't perfect, but it's the only promotion TCU was going to get

There’s a lot I could add here about how we all feel regarding this move here in Fort Worth, but the bottom line is this:

The greedy, myopic, disdainful scumbags in the Big XII Longwhorn Conference are never going to invite TCU. Too much football cred, not enough cash. And, frankly, rejoining that dysfunctional ‘family’ would probably be a terrible idea anyway. So where else are we supposed to go to grow our football program? Playing New Mexico is really starting to hurt us.

That really was the sort of response I was looking for when I asked this in the first place….but then it feel into a bit of a Big East-hate thing…which I’m okay with.
