Damn right we deserve it! Two national championships in one year? And hell, after all the smack we were getting about THE Ohio State University impending ass-pounding they were to give us… a little payback is in order.
Only one thing missing from that video…the shot of OSU’s Defensive End breathing so hard in the fourth quarter that his eyes nearly bulged out of his head…and then later puking his guts out on the sideline (or so I am told).

As good as Billy the Kid’s squad is, I’m fairly certain the College Sports Gods won’t allow such gluttony.
Plus, this year’s Gator hoops squad won’t have the luxury of skipping through the first three rounds or so of the tourney in relative obscurity, but will have to win six straight on neutral courts with a gigantic target on their backs… there’s a reason only one team has done that since the tournament expanded to 64 teams…(the Grant Hill/Laettner/Hurley Duke squad, and even they needed one of the all-time miracle buzzer-beaters to get it done)… it’s freakin’ hard to do twice, even when a team is great.

Uhh.. no it isn’t. Kentucky was recognized in a few polls as the #1 team after the 1950 football season. Remember that some polls were taken then before the bowls, and UK did lose their bowl game but it didn’t matter.
Their mens basketball team won the tournament in March of 1951.

#27, #30 - There was some jackass sitting in front of us (and next to 4 UF fans - who were cool, BTW) with a Michigan hat & sweatshirt. I’m not really sure if that was in support of the Big 10 or against tOSU. I’m inclined to believe the latter. Either way, it’s like wearing a Ravens jersey to the Chargers/Eagles Super Bowl.
This is also my 3rd post since the a$$ beating we took. I’ve now moved well into acceptance. But I have to say this: the Gator Chomp has now moved up the list to #2 between #1 “Hail to the Victors” and #3 “The Tomahawk Chop” of CFB traditions I can’t stand. I don’t know where it was before that.

And I believe that Urban cried after the LSU game, not the ‘Bama game. Hell, he just won a national championship — I don’t care if he cried when he saw “Beaches”. (Note that UF has been able to sustain success with more than one coach)

Boat drinks for everyone in orange and blue!!!
Now, get the hell over yourselves and admit that the road back seems more difficult than it is to get there in the first place. Let’s see… list of coaches who somehow find it hard to find their way back to the top:
- B. Stoops
- P. Fulmer
- P. Carroll
- B. Tressel
- N. Saben
- B. Bowden
- L. Coker
- M. Brown (TX)
- J. Paterno
Let’s see…did I leave anyone (worth talking about) out?….. ohhhhh yeahhh….one more

Re: #39,
Didn’t a couple of the coaches you named actually win multiple national championships (though one of Pete Carroll’s is questionable)? That being the case, I’d say they didn’t have too much trouble finding their way back to the top.
Also, couldn’t we just make that new bullseye design orange and blue so it doesn’t clash?

I may incur the wrath of the email army known as Kentucky fans, but to claim the 1950 national championship based on a retroactive Sagarin poll is pretty retarded. Maybe in ten years UF can get a sagarin ranking for “on-campus women of 2006″ so the 10th place finish will be wiped from the books. Just think what you will be able to claim-BCS championship and made-up hottness list in the same year!

If Tebow really ignites the spread option next year Urban Meyer will be in serious danger of becoming the Yankee (pleather jacket, no visor) 2nd Coming of Spurrier; e.g. a snarky, sarcastic, dude who puts up millions of points on you by with a crazy offense (passing short and getting tricksy instead of bombing away a la OBC) led by mayonnaise white, devoutly Christian QB and gloats about afterward causing deadly hatred by all UF rivals. Hopefully the scenario can be completed by the Redskins drafting Chris Leak in the later rounds and setting on the bench for 2-3 years, at which team Joe Gibbs will totter off into senility and Dan Snyder can haul in the Urbinator to run Leak off the bench and lead the Skins’ to a couple season of mediocrity before splitting to go coach at whatever SEC school Saban has recently vacated.

There’s a distinction?
A woman married three times walked into a bridal shop one day and told the sales clerk that she was looking for a wedding gown for her fourth wedding.
“Of course, madam,” replied the sales clerk, “exactly what type and color dress are you looking for?”
The bride to be said: “A long frilly white dress with a veil.”
The sales clerk hesitated a bit, then said, “Please don’t take this the wrong way, but gowns of that nature are considered more appropriate for brides who are being married the first time - for those who are a bit more innocent, if you know what I mean? Perhaps ivory or sky blue would be nice?”
“Well,” replied the customer, a little peeved at the clerk’s directness, “I can assure you that a white gown would be quite appropriate. Believe it or not, despite all my marriages, I remain as innocent as any first-time bride. You see, my first husband was so excited about our wedding; he died as we were checking into our hotel. My second husband and I got into such a terrible fight in the Limo on our way to our honeymoon that we had that wedding annulled immediately and never spoke to each other again.”
“What about your third husband?” asked the sales clerk.
“Oh”, she said, “He was a bama fan and all he did for five years was sit on the side of the bed and tell me how good it was going to be”.

A floridian thinking that people in Alabama need to learn class. You’re way out of touch with reality Harvey. You were probably one of the millions of “classy” gaytors laughing as Prothro was carted off the field.
And another thought for Baconboy. We don’t live in the 70’s at Alabama, no more than UF fans live in the ’90’s,, well, I will pretend that UF fans don’t live in the ’90’s. Alabama fans simply laugh to ourselves when we think that if Florida won the SEC for another 14 consecutive years that maybe they might over take Alabama in 2022 for the most SEC championships. That’s a really funny thought.
Congratulations on winning the national championship. I hope for your sakes that the momentum continues. Just in case, I went ahead and purchased the domain name “fireurbanmeyer.com”, as l’m certain some classy Florida fan would want it once you loose to FSU next season and when Alabama takes over the SEC.
Enjoy this time. Because, you’re all on notice as of last week. Hell is coming, and Alabama is coming with it.
“What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, ‘I hate playing against these guys. I hate playing them. Their effort, their toughness, relentless resiliency, go out every play and focus, play the next day, compete for 60 minutes in the game, I can’t handle that.’”
