These Are The Days Of Our Lives
Updates, updates, updates! This is a grand time of year for coach-related rumor mongering and, yes, even the occasional real bit of news.
Clemson Keeps Bowden
Fan 1: How do you know the 2007 season was fucked up?
Fan 2: Appy State over Michigan!
Fan 1: No, jackass.
Fan 2: Stanford over USC?
Fan 1: Bah - no, not that. Dude, there were multiple teams competing with one another for Tommy Bowden’s services.
Charlie Weis Wants You To Judge Him
Next year, that is.
Asked how quickly he can get things righted, Weis responded: “Not fast enough. That’s probably as fair an answer as I can say,” Weis said Monday at a news conference. “I think that the arrow is definitely pointing up. You already know what my goal is every time we play, and every time we play my expectation is to win that game. But we can’t get good enough fast enough as far as I’m concerned.”
I have to agree here: things are looking up. I honestly thought they’d lose to Duke and Stanford.
UCLA Needs To Hire Coach With Swagger
So says a crusty looking old dude at the LA Times, anyway: “Those who lead the teams that get the attention in Los Angeles have a common thread. They are people who conduct their business with a style and a swagger. They either came with name recognition or quickly acquired it here. The style and swagger aren’t always the same, but all have some form of it… So, for at least a couple of weeks, Guerrero has our spotlight. We don’t ask much, just a coach with style, swagger and success.”
If you’re having trouble imagining Pete Carroll reading the LA Times this morning, allow me to assist you…
Les Miles Still In Play At Michigan
Or wait, no, maybe it’s Ferentz. Wasn’t I talking about Brady Hoke this morning? Am I a candidate for this job?
If you’re having trouble imagining Ohio State fans reading Michigan blogs this morning, allow me to assist you…

I wish Arkansas would contact me about the job so that I could parlay it into a raise from my current employer as well

The other reasons that the last video isn’t a Buckeye fan is 1) he’s not in the library, and 2) he’s not on closed caption video or being investigated.

Lets see, earlier this year, Arkansas had two head basketball coaches “locked in” before they bolted for better relationships. Now, they’ve been the tool of Tuberville and Bowden in making the home crowd jealous enough to sweeten the realationship.
Arkansas is like that slutty girl with poor self esteem that would sleep with anyone on the chance they might stick around only to be used by a long line of coaches, I mean guys, just to make their girlfriends jealous.
Only in the coaching world, it really works.

#3- Well played! You nailed us pretty good there.
Notre Dame is going to suck pretty good for a while, so everyone should just get used to it. Far too much time was wasted on the Popefuckers this season.

I can’t wait til September 2008 when Notre Dame wins its first three games and the sports media collapses upon itself. I swear, if Notre Dame ever entered into one of these BCS #1 or #2 debates, the world might end. Seriously.

Rumor alert? Paul Johnson to Georgia Tech.

Ga Tech and UCLA can have a study date and share notes.
As I was reading the story about Dorrell being fired I noticed that like Gailey he had a winning record, but not an overly impressive one, and had lead his team to a bowl for 5-6 straight years.
Then I read your post and it was exactly what the AJC and Radovich were saying about a new coach for Tech.
Can Mike Leach be in 2 places at the same time?

Supposedly Charlie is collecting another top recruiting class (if you believe the experts). So is next year the “no excuses” year for him? Just checking, because his numerous defenders will find just about any reason why the losing isn’t his fault.

Charlie Weis is not a coach who can develop players. He took finished products in the pros and ran a scheme for them. But in college football, you need to “coach ‘em up” and he doesn’t. ND is in for more years of untapped potential, which will be more frustrating to their unrealistic expectation fanbase. He will continue to gamble and put his team in a bad situation 1-3 times per game which will exaggerate their problems. No Ty Willingham to blame next year, they will have to suck on their own merit. Bad game coach and no “decided schematic advantage” = many inexplicable losses. Enjoy Domers, I know I will!

THIS JUST IN:
Pat White and Colt Brennan to sue NY Downtown Athletic Club!
Colt Brennan and Pat White got together to sue the for unfair Heisman advantages for DMac and Tebow. They mentioned that the only way the Heisman race would be fair is if they too, would get to play against South Carolina’s defense.
The Heisman race was wide open before DMac and Tebow played South Carolina but afterwards, they were the favorites.

#15 - I spent 30 seconds looking at your pathetic blog. Remind me again what Tommy’s record at Clemson versus South Carolina is?
And now you are, “off to recruiting.” Remind me again, which is your favorite verbal thus far?
Is it the kid who was thrown off the GMC prep squad for stealing from his teammate, ala Jabar Gaffney, or is it the verbal you took from the kid in the Atlanta area who has been robbing Atlanta merchants with his cronies for over a year? Nevermind that Clemson, Georgia, and Tennessee, yes Tennessee, all dropped that kid like he was trying to inject them with ebola, Spurrier was all about adding him to Feb’s class.
No, Chg, Steve Spurrier is not cutting corners to win at all costs in Cola.
No sir, not at all.
You people are jokes, nothing more.

Coop - what’s the deal? You’re not that Clemson booster that paid for the stupid billboard sign in Columbia are you? I just don’t get the angst you bring to this board. Bitching to Bean about the quality of his work in place for Orson or an earlier post and then throwing out a topic that you read and likely plagerized from someone’s post on tigernet about recruiting. If Tommy’s scheme to get more cash pisses you off that bad, gee, go jack off or something. You guys won the game, but if you claim anything more than a W from that game, things will be pretty dismal for you until Tommy’s new contract expires.

The thing about “top recruiting classes” as it relates to improvement (and specifically ND) is that ALL of the top programs, always have “top recruiting classes.” Sure, it may be No. 1 one year, and No. 5 the next, or No. 8 one year, and No. 4 the next. It does little to separate you from the pack.
That said, it may help prevent losing to Michigan St. (again) and a service academy.

Obviously, no love for Notre Dame here, but I heard the following joke/fact this morning:
“Notre Dame has a longer winning streak (2 games) than Le LSU and The Ohio State, the two teams playing for this year’s mythical, to the nth degree, BCS championship.”

Ooh boy, all this Buckeye fan bashing is getting this Buckeye fan all hot and bothered. I find it odd that when it comes to our rootin-tootin’ fans and our too-fucking-huge stadium, we’re about as SEC as the Big Ten gets, but everyone in the SEC absolutely despises us.
We have a lot more in common than we’re willing to admit, my SEC friends. You may smack us around when we meet on the gridiron, but as far as the low academic standards, excessive partying, drunken orgies and prison rat football players - oh, and putting guys in the NFL, we’re not so different from uh, “y’all”.

#20, surely you jest…
Colt Brennan played an entire schedule filled with “Worse Than USCe Caliber Teams” this year. Like bad, really bad teams. And WVU had its own share of patsies also.
June Jones has been eating too much poi if he thinks Brennan would have a shot to put up Tebow like numbers in the SEC.
