Orson Swindle and Stranko Montana are two men pushing thirty who should know better than to run a college football blog, but evidently don't. Both graduated from the University of Florida, and both agree that college football is far too important to be left to the professionals.

Nick Saban is 2-4 vs Florida, with the 2 wins coming against Ron Zook. I’d pay 4 million for that.
12-0, and nothing to show. First team to run the table and get spanked in the SECCG, against an opponent who was without one of their best offensive players and 2 D-linemen.

Serious LOL to “you only beat us when you’re down”. You must’ve been down a lot in my lifetime. Auburn’s best run in its history against Alabama came during the greatest stretch of turmoil in our history. Otherwise, the series is ours, along with this year’s game.

WORST CASE SCENARIO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!:
After Bama’s loss, they fall to, say, 4. Oklahoma’s ongoing domination leads them to take the #1 spot. Texas gets bumped up 2 because. Florida only goes up to 3, maybe due to factor:GIGGITY, and since it appears to be theoretically possible for two teams from the same conference to end up in the MNC, it’s an OU/Tex rematch for the crystal pineapple, and a Florida/USC consolation prize.
Not that I want it, but the BCS seems to be geared towards absolutely fucking things up as spectacularly as possible, and this appears to be terribly, terribly possible.

Anybody cheering for a playoff should be hoping that Mack Brown is persuading the hell out of voters to somehow use some monkey logic to cause an OU/UT national title game. Riots might literally ensue, hell if I was a voter and I wanted a playoff I’d do my part to make it happen. I’d actually cheer for that to happen if I didn’t want Florida to win the national title so I can pretend like Miami being the only team to hold the national championship Gators under 30 is some awesome achievement that lead to great 2009 success.

The only 14-0 National Champion is still in tact…thank you Gators.
The thing that really pops out at me is that Bama was at 100% strength with no injuries and practically the same starters on the lines the whole season, did not turn the ball over, did not commit any really bad penalties, and yet the Gators, minus the best play maker in the country, still put 31 points on Saban’s defense.
I mentioned it earlier in the week and got blasted, but Bama’s SOS was the worst of all the top 10 BCS teams. They played 5 teams that ranked right up there with Michigan in terms of total offense and scoring offense rankings.
The SEC was down this year, way down, especially the SEC West. I felt that Bama was getting a pass simply because they were 12-0.
I’m just glad we don’t have to hear about how this team is just like the 92′ team for the next 6 weeks and how Saban caused every coach in the country to get fired.

Just think TAFKATOSUB,
If we were just like the Big 10 and didnt have to play for the Conference Championship game, Alabama would be 12-0 and PLAYING for the MNC, sitting back, watching everyone else play….Good luck with Texas…
Good game Florida….lets see, Urban has had at least 4 good recruiting classes, Saban has had 1….cant wait to see a fully stocked Saban roster in 4 yrs, and I am sure we will be facing Florida at least for the next 2 yrs in the SECCG since both teams are very young and talented….We just need a QB…just think where we would be with a Heisman competitive QB? Scary….
New ASS Tiger……Auburn wasnt down, in fact, wasnt Auburn , the same 5-7 ass clowns, supposed to win the West? Hows that fucking spread working for ya? Tubbs fucked ya real good, fucked up your offense, fucked up your season, fucked up your recruiting class AGAIN, and took the $5.1 mill of Colonial money and ran like a lil punk bitch…now you are 3 yrs behind the eight ball and guess what? All our talent, plus many more, is coming back, and the same scrubs you got now, are still there….and the 2 and 3 star recruits you had are jumping off of the Titanic of college programs…..good luck with no bowls for at least the next 3 yrs….The question by Auburn fans 2 yrs ago was “Who would want to coach at Alabama?” I guess you fuckin found out………Now who the fuck wants to coach at Auburn? Against Saban,Meyer,Nutt and Petrino? Now you can live in the past on your 6 wins and now a 7 loss season and the loss of a mediocre coach…..Pre-Saban, was great to be a Auburn Tiger, now how bleak does that future look? If ya want to get an idea of how to win, look at Florida…..get a coach, get a plan, get a QB and learn how to develop players….It will be a long, long time until Auburn is relevant…It took us 2 yrs to get back……and we are back for good….now get your shine box……….
Think about this….this team Saban has will be the LEAST talented team he will coach while at Alabama…and its only gonna get BETTER….
To the Oklahoma fans chanting “We want Florida”….you are gonna get Florida…at Full Strength, and you aint gonna like it…….

I predicted 45-10, and at full strength, Florida would have made it would have made it that or worse. Alabama is a pretty good football team with a weak schedule. Of the BCS 1-loss teams, they are tied at the bottom with Texas Tech.
The MNC should be decided in an OU-Texas rematch. Not only are they playing the best football, but they have the best resume. Florida, USC, and Penn State all have 100% equally valid arguments, since they all lost narrowly to 8-4 teams. Texas Tech got shredded by OU, Alabama got handled by a banged up Florida team without their best offensive threat. In a perfect world the BCS should be: 1. Oklahoma 2.Texas 3. Florida 4. Penn State 5. USC 6. Texas Tech 7. Alabama.

PSU in NYC,
I appreciate the fact that you are trying to be logical, but your logic is kinda screwy. UF, USC, and PSU deserve to be ahead of Bama and TTU “since they all lost narrowly to 8-4 teams.”???
Buddy, Bama and TTU lost to 12-1 teams.
Oklahoma, also, had a 10 point loss to a 12-1 team.

Agreed on the “least” talented team, but next year’s might not be of the 12-0 vintage. I think that ‘10 is your NC year.
As for next year - Can McElroy or whomever match JPW? Does Andre leave? What happens to the OL if he does? I would tend to believe the D will be better, but, as my older cousin who played under Ears Whitworth sed, “Your offense MUST be able to score at least three times every game”. I don’t know what Bama has for 2nd string OL talent, so will admit to some ignorance. Can they score 13-17 points against a solid SEC defense with an inexperienced QB and a possibly depleted OL?

And thats with or without Harvin…..Floridas offense is much like 3 card monty…..you can only get lucky so long before they get hot…..plus Floridas Defense is alot better than the defense Oklahoma puts on the field….they hadnt seen SPEED or execution in the Big 12 from both sides of the ball like they will see…Alabama probaly played the best disiplined ball they have all year, no TO’s, iffy penaltys, and was BARELY out of position on a few passes that Tebow hit, and they had players that made plays, Alabama made 2 mistakes in the kicking game that killed em, catching the ball OUT of bounds, and a FAKE FG?? WTF was that…..Go Gators, kill Stoops….

There you go again…bitching and complaining and wanting to have it both ways regarding a conference championship game.
In 2006 the 1. vs. 2. game of Ohio State vs. Michigan was a defacto conference championship game; the winner was set to be the outright conference champion and there was no need for a conference championship game.
On the flip side of your, as usual, half-baked argument do you think Penn State would like to have a conference championship game this year? They only lost one game by one point, just like Florida…what if Penn State had a conference championship game that could propel them into the national championship game? You think they would have liked one in 2005 when, for the second time in 4 years they lost 1 game by 1 point.
Quit your bitching about conference championship games and just take your medicine. You had EVERYTHING going your way going into this game against Florida.
1. 100% healthy team - top to bottom.
2. 5-year starting quarterback that has set every record at Alabama.
3. The best 3rd down defense in the country
4. The best defensive coach in the country
5. The best OLineman in the country
6. The best DT in the country.
7. A Florida team that was wounded
8. The role of the underdog - which you guys love.

My real-time impressions during the game, condensed: “OK great start maybe our offense will overpower their defense; Oh crap here we go; Oh thank God we weathered the storm; Oh crap here they come again; Oh crap they’re wearing us down; Oh crap they look like the better team and we’re running out of-hey we won.”
That was an intense game. Hurray for both Bama and Florida for bringing the awesome in an otherwise shit year for the SEC.

Yeah, the logic breaks down in every scenario. It’s true that Texas Tech and Alabama lost to 12-1 teams, but it’s also clear they weren’t on the level of their opponents in those losses. Alabama lost by 11 despite playing a near-perfect game and Florida without their best offensive player and 2 D-linemen. So who deserves to be ranked higher, the teams that got killed by 12-1 teams or the teams that lost in “fluke” games to solid 8-4 teams?
I guess it all depends on your biases, but if you look at quality wins Alabama clearly comes out at the bottom with their only “big” win over a 9-3 Georgia team ranked #20. USC and Penn State would be next with each winning their conference and getting a win over a Top 10 team - PSU should be higher than USC in any poll based on results against common opponent (Ore State). Texas Tech would be next, and the top 3 would be the same. So I still say the Top 3 would be OU, Texas, UF in that order. The rest of the Top 7 is arguable…

Do all other 11 SEC teams get to put a NC trophy in their trophy case if Florida wins the NC? Just wondering.
I’m surprised more people are not talking about how much Florida dominated Alabama in the 4th quarter? That was total domination.
Bama gained 1 yard of offense, scored 0 points, and lost the time of possession by 8 minutes. On the flip side, Florida scored 14 points - had there been another minute on the clock probably 21 points - and owned the 4th quarter.
All that without Percy Harvin, their most dynamic and explosive play-maker.

Dear Lord…
Let the shameful taste of being left out of competition for the national title be like crap in the cornflakes of those who deny us a playoff system. Let one university president after another be scolded by rich alumni that their team deserved a shot at winning it all, and let them be shamed in front of their peers and friends. Please allow the calculators of the Mighty Mouse add up the numbers and find them overwhelmingly in favor of a playoff system. And in case none of this makes a difference, please let our upcoming president be so dillusioned as to imagine his team might have a shot at a national championship if they only had such a playoff in place. Where’s the cries for Stoops’ head on a platter for being stoopid enough to keep his Heisman winning (potentially) QB on the field the entire game last night, hellbent on hangin’ 60?
There’s NO DOUBT that little record OK set last night is a direct result of the fact that there’s NO DEFENSE to be found in the Big 12.

Am pleased that inexplicable “sideline warning” penalty was moot. Meyer would have taken this approach to the offending ref, should we have ended up losing:
He lets the last official go.
He waits until his SEC and BCS aspirations are in the ground and then he goes after the rest of the referees.
He kills their kids, he kills their wives, he kills their parents and their parents’ friends.
He burns down the houses they live in and the stores they work in, he kills people that owe them money.
And like that he was gone. Underground. Nobody has ever seen him since.
He becomes a myth, a spook story that coaches tell their kids at night. “Call a sideline infraction on your pop, and Urban Meyer will get you. And no-one ever really believes.

Tebow proved that all the praise he receives is deserving. Alabama is a tough-nosed team that not many teams can handle. Tebow stood tall in the pocket, made physical runs, and hit all the hard throws. I think we - Alabama - are pretty equal to Florida in most areas but the difference was at quarterback and that was all the difference in this game. OU-UF is going to be an amazing game I think…but if we couldn’t stop you guys minus Harvin, OU has no hope with the full-strength Gators offense. If anything, playing Florida should give us a head start for bowl prep if Alabama does indeed play Utah in New Orleans. lol.

For 103…
Love him or hate him, take a moment to appreciate Tim Tebow.
You may fall into the faction that finds Tim Tebow annoying and saccharin sweet.
How dare he be great at football and be a model citizen? Who does he think he is winning a Heisman as a sophomore and donating his spring break to orphans in the Phillipines?
Let’s face it: He is terrible and boring at interviews. He is always “yes sir” and “no sir” when talking to analyists. He always give credit to God (blah) and his teammates (bleh). He thanks his coaches for their gameplan (ralph) and his linemen for their blocking (wretch). Some have even said that he is a bit of a “wad”.
Where are the arrest records? Where are the pictures of him being anything but a true gentleman?
Where is the drama?
Tebow has done nothing but maintain a 3.7 GPA while leading his team to a SEC title and a National Title game birth.
He already has a Heisman in his back pocket, and he has the balls to go for another? Seriously, who does this guy think he is?
He is Tim Tebow. He has never asked for acolades. He has never asked for praise, only given it to the man upstairs, his teammates and coaches.
Then he lost (technically, the team lost), and he issued a promise to play harder than any player in America.
Since that day he has led his team on an amazing ride. LED his team. The Gators haven’t lost a game since, and have been rolling in their victories. The SEC title against Alabama was the cake, Oklahoma will be the icing.
Last year, Tebow was the first sophomore to ever win the Heisman. He accounted for a boatload of TDs and yards, but failed to win a title.
This year, he may flip that outcome. His numbers are no longer gaudy, but he is leaps and bounds better as a leader of his team. Maybe that is what makes him so special.
He pleads with Urban Meyer to let him be on special teams, he gets in the face of LB Brandon Spikes to fire up the defense, and more than anything, he instills a belief in his teammates that he will NOT fail them.
More important than anything else, he has brought a title back to Gainesville, and has one more on the horizon. Win or lose against Oklahoma, he will probably be back again next year. He is living his childhood dream.
He is living the dream of every college football fan in America. Tebow grew up a Gator fan. He considered Alabama, but his heart wouldn’t let him go there. He had to don the orange and blue.
Do you remember when you were a kid and you used to toss the ball around in the back yard? Who were you tossing TDs for? For me, that pine tree was Neal Anderson. The oak tree was Cris Collinsworth. If I managed to hit the elm, it was a TD to Wes Chandler.
Tebow hit those same trees, along with trees named Reidel Anthony, Ike Hilliard, and Chris Doering.
Remember that kid who took the team’s every loss really, really hard? What if that guy grew into a 240 pound QB with a laser arm but didn’t lose an ounce of passion? That guy would be Tim Tebow.
Now imagine he played for your team.
Still hate him?
He is a once in a lifetime athlete that we should all celebrate, no matter what team you follow.

College football is better with guys like Tim Tebow. He is the gold standard when it comes to guys you want leading your team. He is a once-in-a-lifetime person/player. I do think he has a great supporting staff and a lot of weapons around him and I think his throwing mechanics are a little suspect, but both of those things are dwarfed by his heart, leadership, and pure grit. That is one tough dude, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
I think a lot of people hate on Tebow because guys like Danielson just don’t know when to STFU and just watch the guy work. Memo to Danielson and Herby…Tebow doesn’t need you drooling all over him, never asked you do so, and anyone with half a football brain, which isn’t saying much, can see this guy work and doesn’t need him to be compared to Fraizer in order to get it that he’s a great player.
Analyst and broadcasters just need to learn that sometimes it better to just be quiet and enjoy the magic - I think Blackledge does this better than anyone. He says just enough to draw your attention to something, but then lets the scene unfold before you.
There just isn’t a need to drool all over guys like Tebow.

Slightly off subject - but now that I have been able to fully relish the victory - I feel compelled to discuss the officiating.
I can forgive the non-calls (late hit out of bounds, holding, etc.) on the theory that the game should not be controlled/managed by the zebras.
But then…then…we get that idiotic stupid 5-yd. penalty (when the Gators were on the Ala. 1 yd. line) for sideline infraction….(called on Urban). it could have been a game-changer. Instead of a sure-fire TD, the Gators might have been forced to settle for a FG try. That could have changed the whole complexion of the game.
I still can’t believe that call.

Dear Texas: (a/k/a the team that did NOT play for the Big XII Championship)
So, your school helped to create the playoff rules for the Big XII. Your school knew what the rules were when the season started. It was these same rules that allowed OU to play for the Championship of the Big XII instead of you. I guess renting that plane (with the banner) to fly over the OSU stadium didn’t help, huh? Don’t worry, your conference is going to “review” its procedures next year. Feel better now?
But I get it - it is somehow Florida’s fault…Texas which didn’t win its’ conference championship deserves to play for the National Championship instead of a team which (fairly) won its own division.
In the meantime…please feel free to stop by to see the Trophy in Gainesville (Florida).

1) No, the Big 12 is not “a better” conference than the SEC. It his 2 good teams - OK, TX, everybody else is mediocre to poor. For the most part it’s overrated.
2) No, TX’s loss was not to a better team than FL’s - hopefully they’ll play in the Cotton Bowl, until then, there’s not one iota of evidence to show that Ole Miss is better/worse than TTech. I think they’re better.

Don’t bring a knife to a gunfight: The http://www.bcsguru.com site now says Florida is a “near certainty” of making the BCS MNC game.
“GATORS CAN EXHALE NOW
With the release of the USA Today Coaches Poll, it’s become a near certainty that Florida will be in the BCS title game, against Oklahoma, whose place was never in doubt.
The latest poll, with the No. 2-ranked Gators earning 26 first-place votes, puts them 73 points ahead of No. 3 Texas. That was more than the 50-point lead that the Guru forecast the Gators would need. Since Florida was already No. 2 in the Harris poll last week and poised to assume the top ranking, its advantages in the human polls should be insurmountable for Texas to overcome.
More bad news for the Longhorns: Their chances for an AP title also appeared dead after the latest Associated Press Poll puts them No. 3, behind No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Oklahoma. Since these two teams will face each other in the BCS title game, there’s no conceivable scenario for Texas to vault to the top, even with a victory over Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.”

How the +1 scenario isn’t even getting a sniff is beyond me. Playoffs are, for the long term future, a pipe dream but a +1 could could easily be added without a lot of hassle.

Did you ever consider that perhaps that was as good as they could play? No game is mistake-free. Maybe, just maybe, UF’s red zone O is simply better than UA’s red zone D. And JPW played as he has the entire season. He was never going to win the game for you - surely you weren’t counting on that, were you?
Bama ran and ran and ran just as everyone said they would. Problem is, the slow, plodding drives burned the entire 3rd qtr. to get a 3 pt. lead. Too much running, not enough scoring.

MIch- just trying to give you some perspective which I know is hard for a Gator. The SEC was NOT good this year. It is why Bama went undefeated because the West was definitely NOT good. Look at the OOC record for the SEC. Bama has an average QB in an overall above average offense. Georgia, the third best team in the SEC and one of the best Os supposedly, couldn’t close out or outscore Georgia Tech. The best QB UF has faced all year long actually knifed through your secondary quite effectively until he decided to throw it right at the secondary instead of his own receivers. I haven’t seen Bradford make too many of those boneheaded throws, mainly because he doesn’t have to since he has a VERY GOOD OL and quite honestly one of the best receivers in the game in Iglesias. You can talk about the Big 12 having no defenses, but I think that is in part because their offenses this year have simply been unbelievable. Did you bother to watch any BIg 12 games throughout the season? OU’s D has seen equally productive O’s as UF. UF’s D hasn’t seen anything as efficient or balanced as OU’s O. Just my opinion, but I think UF is going to be shocked when everything that has been coming so easily this year suddenly isn’t coming so easily against OU. SEC teams freaked when UF started scoring and helped their own demise. OU didn’t look like it was freaking when it was going toe to toe with high flying opposing O’s all year round.
