FRANK BEAMER, THE KINGMAKER

Dennis Dodd is on a hot streak, this time profiling the political acumen of Frank Beamer in a fascinating article on Sportsline.com.

BRENDAN LOY: ANOTHER DORKY BLOGGER WHO LOVES FOOTBALL

Brendan Loy puts up nice stuff with regularity over at brendanloy.com, including a nifty audioblog feature we’re going to toy with immediately. Loy is also another law student with a football blog, who along with We Are the Boys and others are making us suspect that hard-charging, client-sharking, connection-hungry law students have far more leisure time than we are led to believe.

CFR: PACKED WITH FRESHNESS TODAY

CFR brings the freshness today with new posts, including kind words about us and new links to team blogs. Our favorite was this Michigan blog, if only because he wonders if Zoltan Mesko is ready to take over punting duties. Zoltan Mesko? Holy shit, that’s a name for a axe-swinging Magyar warrior-king, or the corrupt president of a breakaway former Soviet republic, not a punter. Mental note: add him to this year’s preseason “All-Name Team.”

All hail Zoltan Mesko and his majestic poster!

ESPN TO FILM STORY OF 1951 ARMY TEAM. BEANO COOK IS JACKED.

The same people who brought you The Junction Boys and 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story will now make an account of the 1951 Army cheating scandal, an event largely credited with ending Army’s dominance as a program after 37 football players were kicked out for cheating. Promising: scenes of Red Blaik’s lonesome end offense, leather helmets, and Scott Glenn, the impossibly wiry guy from Urban Cowboy and Hunt for Red October. Fills us with dread: from the same people who made 3. Nevertheless, when Beano Cook heard the news he got so excited he stole a 12 pack of Iron City Beer from a convenience store, drank the whole thing in his jalopy on the way to Bristol, and brained Lee Corso with an authentic 1946 Army megaphone.

Beano Cook is jacked about the new Army movie. Citizens of Pittsburgh, beware.

MTV UNVEILS NEW XBOX 360: HOPES RUN HIGH FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME POSSIBILITIES

Last night in what was essentially an informercial for Microsoft’s XBOX 360, the new machine was revealed along in an MTV extraveganza which included Frodo and the Killers. On question remains on the minds of us here at EDSBS.com…. how cool with the NCAA Football Game be????? Well, if you count Orson’s wishes, I’m sure he’s wondering about the NASCAR game too…. but that’s besides the point.

Frodo Baggins has seen alot in his days, but here he appears shocked at the graphics of the new XBox.
