What we're talking about here is, what do you keep in your liquor locker on a regular basis? We're not interested in that one-off bottle you've had since Farve was throwing for Southern Miss. This is the stuff you go out and buy when you get down to the last two or three shots. I'm always looking for suggestions to expand my horizons. Current college students are excused from this exercise. As I recall, a bottle didn't last long enough to count as being 'regularly stocked'. Mine list is after the jump:
Whiskey: American: One of a rotation of four
George Dickel No. 12 (90 proof, and pure sippin' pleasure)
Maker's Mark (the wax seal is a little pretensious, but the liquor's damn good)
Jack Daniel's No. 7 (a classic)
Henry McKenna (the bottle says 'Kentucky Table Whiskey'. I like the idea you'd serve this with dinner)
Whiskey: Foreign:
Jameson's Irish (mostly drink it neat, but two fingers of Jamey's in three fingers of hot tea with honey and lemon is great for a cold. It doesn't cure the cold; you just don't mind it so much after two or four or six.)
Teacher's Scotch (cheap and my father-in-law likes it)
Whiskey: Other: Moonshine (I restock twice a year when I go back up to WV)
Rum: The stuff I drink: One of a rotation of three
Gosling's Black Seal (Bermudian for 'kick-ass drink')
Mount Gay Barbados Eclipse (golden pleasure with a light fruit juice or on the rocks)
Barbancourt Rhum (Haitian sex for your mouth)
Rum: The stuff my wife drinks: White (Either Cruzan 2 Year old or Bacardi)
Tequila: Jose Cuervo Gold (this is what I keep at home. I sometimes drink the Patron when I'm out)
Gin: Tanqueray (Ya never know when you'll crave the taste of a pine tree)
Vodka: Smirnov Blue (cheap, my daughter likes it, and I don't drink it much)
Sherry: Amontillado (loved it when I lived in Spain. E. A. Poe wrote about it, and I live where Poe wrote the 'Goldbug Tree' and several poems, including 'Annabelle Lee') Creme Oloroso (my wife's favorite)
