ND/MICHIGAN LIVEBLOG

11:37 CST Orson Says: Aaron Taylor looks like Kingpin from the Daredevil comic books. Or the bullet-headed demon from Hellraiser. Thus far we've watched UM be unable to run the ball or defend against the slant, draw, and tosses to the flat. Notre Dame, you've been Hermannated!
11: 47 CST Stranko Says: After Pitt's performance last night, I was starting to wonder if Notre Dame was getting their act together under Weis or if it was just about how bad Pitt has become under Wannstedt.
11:51 CST Stranko Says: Frank Beamer and Jenkins would not have been happy about that special teams blunder... Michigan should have pinned them at the 1.
11:52 CST Orson: Quinn is off, off, off.
11:55 CST Stranko : Carr digging in to his bag a tricks with a sweet reverse. I am just glad the announcers did not pull one of my pet peaves and call that a "double reverse" as many usually do.
12:02 CST Orson: Michigan gittin' after them now...and after we type that they give up a long, cheap first down. BTW, just watched Miss. State flub their way out of good field position against Auburn. 7-0 Tigers.
12:14 CST Orson: Woodley is a line-wrecker. ND's line is starting to wobble a little bit in pass protection.
12:16 CST Orson: Love Nessler on the call. Zero bullshit thus far, and goes from zero to blimp-explosion excited in 0.4 nanoseconds.
12:20 CST Stranko: that's why he has the honor of EA Sports announcing.... by the way, ouch, he's holding his knee in a painful looking manner.
12:21 CST Stranko: Just finished lunch... not exactly the offensive shootout I was expecting but a great game nontheless. Also, the trivia answer (assuming I heard the question right while eating) is Bettis, isn't it?
12:25 CST Orson: Sure. No, not a shootout, but the real surprise here is how toothless UM's offense has been thus far. That and Brady Quinn's hair--makes him look like the lead singer of Slaughter.
12:30 CST Stranko: It's official. I'm a genius. Jerome Bettis it is.
12:39 CST Stranko: 30 seconds left at half... Michigan looking impotent against Notre Dame's D... down by 11... What do you think Brian at MGoBlog is doing right now?
12:42 CST Orson: Beating up a homeless guy in an alley adjacent to the stadium. We're going to San Antonio Taco Company for lunch with Mom et.al, but should be back by the fourth. Hold it down. Wow. just saw the ugliest td pass ever from Michael Robinson of Penn State. If anyone should ever be ashamed of six points, it's him.
12:55 CST Stranko: Kansas State is rethinking its decision to play at Marshall right about now... and Oklahoma hasn't exactly bounced back this week. Unless Texas opens up a can of whoopass on OSU, the Big 12 is looking at a long season this year.
1:07 CST Stranko: Well, Kansas State just got bailed out thanks to an inexplicably bone-headed call by the Marshall coach to throw with 8 seconds left rather than set up for a manageable field goal... but the Big 12 still looks really weak right now. Back to Notre Dame Michigan.
1:15 CST Stranko: Well, so much for that nice Michigan drive. That pick is like a punch in the nads for the Wolverines. Things are starting to get tense now.
1:28 CST Stranko: Live by the blitz... die by the blitz. It is nice to see Michigan trying to get the pressure on Notre Dame, but you've got to make the tackle on the quarterback when you have the chance... another 3rd down conversion for the Domers.
1:35 CST Stranko: We are through the looking glass here people. Black is white, up is down, and Michigan and Notre Dame are locked in a defensive struggle.
1:37 CST Stranko: Breaston has alligator arms.
1:40 CST Stranko: End of third. Irish still up 14-3. I am starting to worry about the civilians of Ann Arbor.
1:44 CST Stranko: 17-3 Notre Dame. Weis is the anti-Wannstedt
1:46 CST Stranko: I can't wait for BC to get into ACC play. They look solid, but I don't know what they've proven yet (but I like that ESPN classic is now showing live games on Saturdays). Also, considering Temple's showing against Wisconsin, I'm not sure what to make of Arizona State's showing last week.
1:49 CST Stranko: Holy Shit. Tulsa 9-7 over Oklahoma (and really close to being 13-7).
1:52 CST Stranko: : Finally, a break for Michigan. If they don't turn this into a touchdown, I'm going to start checking their pulse to see if we can declare them dead.
1:59 CST Stranko: : Michigan is coding. They need rescucitation stat.
2:00 CST Stranko: Oklahoma back on t op of Tulsa 14-9... stay tuned.
2:03 CST Stranko: For those with multiple TV's and/or football OCD, keep an ACC game on at all times. It looks like they are going to be the most fun, back and forth, hard hitting conference games this year... I've had one eye on Clemson/Maryland all day, and what a game. Of course, these comments specifically exclude FSU-Miami.
2:10 CST Stranko: Michigan has some life... but it is in the hands of the replay booth... that's happened quite a bit already this season.
2:14 CST Stranko: And the replay goes to... Notre Dame. Put a fork in Michigan... they are done.
2:15 CST Stranko: Do you think Lloyd Carr misses John Cooper right about now?
2:30 CST Stranko: Are rumors of Michigan's demise overstated... stay tuned. By the way, I like the balls of going for the endzone on 4th and 3. Kudos. PS. Oklahoma is up 17-15 thanks to a failed 2 point conversion by Tulsa... they really suck.
2:35 CST Stranko: Notre Dame's lack of killer instinct is making this interesting... and the refs just missed some pass interference on Manningham. MGoBlog must be going nuts.
2:39 Stranko: More Michigan alligator arms, only this time on 4th down. Game, set match. Congratulations Notre Dame. Now I am left to wonder what happened to Michigan's offense? Is Notre Dame's defense really that improved? We'll see.
3:26 Orson: Back from eating tacos--left one on the table after the nausea from Henne's performance kicked in. A Paul Thompson-esque performance. Notre Dame goes 2-0; watch Golden Domers proclaim renaissance two games into season.
