College Gameday Suggestions/Predictions (Updated Nov. 8): Should They Go to UCF on November 17?

Hello, college football fans!

We're into November. This season has flown by fast!

Here are my preseason and midseason suggestions/predictions for College Gameday. Some games and teams looked way better in August than they do now.

This was a historic season as College Gameday finally made its first ever trip to Pullman, WA and the Washington State Cougars. I predicted it during my midseason picks. There is a tradition that the WSU flag is flown at the Gameday location no matter where they go. I had been rooting for Wazzu to host Gameday since last season. This week, College Gameday heads to Boston College, their first appearance since 2009.

So where to the rest of the season?

November 17: Cincinnati Bearcats at UCF Knights, Orlando, FL

Alternate: Syracuse at Notre Dame, Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY

Central Florida finished undefeated last year and is currently unbeaten again this season. This game could potentially be 9-0 vs. 9-1 Cincinnati, unarguably the game of the year in the AAC. This season, College Gameday hasn't been to any games outside of Power 5 conferences or Notre Dame so this is a chance for them to make an appearance at one of the "little guys" (they have made appearances at FCS or even Division II schools before). One big story involving UCF is a few weeks back Kirk Herbstreit criticized them, saying teams like Appalachian State and Fresno State were better on paper. It would be interesting to see the reaction from the UCF fans if Kirk goes to Orlando.

One problem is there is another potential big game next week as well between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the surprising Syracuse Orange (7-2) and both teams should be favored to win this upcoming week. The game is also tempting because it will be played at Yankee Stadium where I am sure ESPN would love to go to. On the other hand, it is considered a Notre Dame "home game" and ESPN has already done an ESPN home game. Also, ESPN has done three games in a row on non ESPN/ABC networks (Oregon/Washington State, Georgia/Florida, Alabama/LSU). Whenever they do that, it forces Kirk to travel to another game. Syracuse/Notre Dame will appear on NBC while Cincinnati/UCF is currently on a six day hold.

I had been picking Miami-Virginia Tech this year but those teams have disappointed.

November 24: Michigan Wolverines at Ohio State Buckeyes, Columbus, OH

Alternate: Notre Dame at USC

I had been predicting Auburn-Alabama but Auburn has disappointed. If the Wolverines and Buckeyes keep winning, this game will be the Big Ten Eastern title and a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game where they will likely be the heavy favorite vs. the Big Ten Western champion. Jim Harbaugh has never beaten OSU. The last time Michigan won was 2011 and the last time they won in Columbus was 2000. If Michigan or Ohio State get upset, Notre Dame could possibly be playing for an undefeated season in Los Angeles.

December 1: SEC Championship, Mercedez-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA, Georgia Bulldogs vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alternate: Big 12 Championship, Arlington, TX

The matchup is official as both teams have already clinched their divisions. In my latest College Football Playoff prediction, I think Alabama can still make the CFP with a loss and Georgia can make it if they win out. I think the ACC and Big Ten are unlikely to host Gameday since the ACC Coastal and Big Ten West divisional champs will likely be so weak that the ACC Atlantic and Big East champions will likely be heavy favorites and the games won't be competitive. If Gameday won't go to the SEC (which I'm pretty sure they will), they probably will go to the Big 12).
