Georgia losing to Florida in football is nothing new, even with the recent power failures in the Gator football factory. Really, since 1990, only Will Muschamp lost consistently to the Bulldogs, which pretty much sums up the entire reason he was fired as head coach. It’s okay to lose to FSU in any number of horrendous ways, it’s fine to blow your random SEC West game badly, and ping-ponging back and forth with LSU is fine. Hell, cough up a game to Tennessee every now and then if you have to, but whatever you do as Florida coach, do NOT lose to Georgia consistently or in embarrassing fashion.*
*It should be noted: the rule does not go both ways, and Georgia coaches may lose to Florida for years with no effect on their employment status.
However, losing in all six major sports in the span of a year is new and terrible, especially since that run included women’s gymnastics, a particular point of pride for the Bulldogs because DAMMIT HOW YOU GONNA LET THE GYM DAWGS NOT HOLD UP THE FORT, GEORGIA?
That is a low, and one we’re not completely gleeful about. We’re compassionate, and also live in Georgia, and want to point out that there are plenty of things the state of Georgia still beats the state of Florida in consistently.
For example: more toddlers shoot people in Georgia than in any other state besides Texas.
