Welcome to one of the most wretched days in the long history of wretched bowl history. A day where a 5-7 Mississippi State plays a 6-6 Miami of Ohio in an abandoned baseball stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida. A day where Boston College, for some reason, will play the program that defines “playing football again, for some reason”: Maryland. A day where Vanderbilt plays NC State in Shreveport beneath the closed eyes of a sleeping and disdainful god who has never, and will never care about any of this, but mostly Shreveport.
May that sleepy god have mercy on us all for watching it. This is your open thread for the day. It is accompanied by appropriate music for the day, both because it is by the recently deceased great George Michael, and because this may literally be the last time any of us decide to dance with you, St. Petersburg Bowl.*
*This isn’t true, you’ll always have a small, miscolored patch of fake grass in our hearts.
