MAGAZINE JOURNALISM BRANCHES OUT INTO COLLEGE FOOTBALL

THEY'RE ROUGHLY AS ACCURATE AS THE REST OF US SO IT'S FINE

Yesterday, we found out that Utah players have a new, and somewhat unusual, piece of bulletin board material for their opening game against Michigan: a small item in Popular Mechanics that labels the Utes "a cupcake game." A curious angle, given that Utah beat Michigan in Ann Arbor just last season and Bill Connelly doesn't have the Wolverines that far ahead of Utah in his full team rankings.

Oh, and what is Popular Mechanics doing talking college football in the first place? As it turns out, they're just part of a larger recent trend, as illustrated by these very real recent editions of popular periodicals.
