SEC MEDIA DAYS, DAY ONE: THE DEATH MARCH BEGINS

New, 950 comments

OH HELL IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN

OH HI THERE. See, we went to Myanmar, and came back and suddenly it's SEC Media Days time, something we totally thought was next month. This is not a lie: we thought SEC Media Days were next month, and even erroneously scheduled other work-related activities against it to prevent any possibility of attendance.

Still, it's worth noting a few things. We now know factually and totally that we would rather be in Yangon than in Hoover, Alabama. We know that the SEC is improving at the art of putting on media events, because putting Gus Malzahn and Hugh Freeze on first gets two of the more low-key boring speakers out of the way first. (Perfectly pleasant, but dead-to-rights pinpoint boring in every press conference.) We know that Will Muschamp is brilliant again, and that Jim McElwain's complexion does not always cooperate with various television displays.

We know that Greg McElroy is wearing pink on camera, a bold move for a ginger dude but one we support for audacity's sake; we know that you can watch the whole thing on Watch ESPN, and that no one will be paying attention to anything else this week. This is all fine, because it is July 13th, and we don't have to be in a mall for a week.
