Yesterday, the ACC announced that Doug Rhoads would be stepping down as Coordinator of Football Officials. We can't imagine how difficult it is to hold a job like that for a Power 5 conference, but we can imagine the perfect replacement candidate: Ron Cherry. His qualifications are more than impressive:
- Encyclopedic knowledge of the rule book.
- Committed to thoroughness in all of his duties.
- Unafraid to embrace new styles within the rules of the game.
- Capitalist, but understands that commerce must be regulated for the good of society.
- Is not a Pac-12 referee.
We look forward to you accepting Mr. Cherry for this position, John Swofford. He's the only man for the job. (He's also the only man brave enough to put a lightly sedated coyote at back judge, but that coyote's gonna have a better sense of offensive pass interference than you think.)
