THE CURIOUS INDEX WISHES JIM HARBAUGH WOULD STOP PLAYING THIS SONG

New, 1036 comments

IT'S SO LOOOOOONG JIM AND THERE ARE SOOOOOOO MANY WORDS

NOT REALLY ENOUGH SONGS ABOUT THINGS THAT HAVE NTSB REPORTS. It's November 10th, and that means on the Harbaugh Calendar of Randomly Significant Events we celebrate and mourn the lives of those lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald. (Mostly because Jim Harbaugh really, REALLY likes this song.)

You'd think he'd be cool about you sort of ironically enjoying a Gordon Lightfoot song? Oh no, no, no, dear reader. This is dead serious. Jim Harbaugh will pull this SUV over and stare at you and make you listen to all 45 verses of the song, right down to the one where Lightfoot begins breaking down the metallurgical quirks of your average lake barge and why certain hatch-locking systems are superior to others. Jim Harbaugh does not treat his freshwater maritime epics lightly, dammit.

HE WILL NOT FALL ASLEEP ON YOUR COUCH. No, you will listen to all 45 verses and appreciate Gordon Lightfoot's craftsmanship, and will not fall asleep on the recruit's couch. Unlike SOME people. And some OTHER PEOPLE who okay well that second guy sort of did okay despite the couch-napping during a recruiting visit.

A HABIT WE CAN NO LONGER BREAK. We have to watch Stingray every week and have no idea why. The man's enthusiasm and tweaky tenor voice are just too much to resist.

THAT'S WHO WE'RE GONNA BE WHEN WE GROW UP. ESPN.Com: just putting Charlie Pierce on game coverage like that's a thing immortals can do.

BAYLOR'S OFFENSE ISN'T LAZY, IT'S JUST EFFICIENT, LIKE A GROWN MAN BARGING INTO YOUR HOUSE AND NAPPING ON THE COUCH LIKE A VAGRANT. No really, read Smart Football just breaking down how some efficient loafing works really well for the Bears. Oh, and this is really good on developing QBs, and just how tedious that process is.

A WARM AND PRIVATE EXPERIENCE ONLY FOR THE TRUE FOOTBALL HIPSTER. Thanks to a TV snafu, only about 300 people enjoyed the pleasure of watching FIU/Charlotte. Sun Belt Football isn't poorly attended: it's exclusive and luxuriously private.

ETC: Been watching this for like 12 hours and have no desire or ability to stop:
