You fools.
For decades, despite all our disagreements and irrational regional pride, through conference realignment and the massive restructuring of the postseason, college football has managed to do one thing: keep West Virginia and Tennessee apart. And now we've put a new battery in the doomsday clock.
Don't you realize there's a reason we've never put these two schools, each of which has fielded a football team for over a hundred years, on the field together? Didn't it occur to anyone that maybe, just maybe, this wasn't about an interesting non-conference matchup, but about the stability of the universe itself? Our predecessors knew better than to put the Mountaineer Keymaster with the Volunteer Gatekeeper.
And now this will happen in 2018.
May our children forgive us, if they survive.
