There have been many dumb football games this season, just as there are every season. Florida-Tennessee was a very dumb football game. Penn State-Michigan was a very dumb football game. Stanford probably had three dumb football games alone.
But once you establish that some games are dumber than others, you necessarily support the proposition that one game will be the dumbest of the season. And when you play four quarters without either team scoring a single point, and when one of those teams needs the win to finally get bowl eligible to continue the fifth-longest postseason streak ever, and when you can't even blame terrible weather, well, you have to be the dumbest. You just have to.
So thank you, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. You've given every other FBS game this year a great gift.
