Mascotdom, like pimpin’, ain’t easy. Between the 5 and the 6 brings you the hard truths of being a college foam monkey.

NCAA MAY RETHINK BAN OF SEMINOLE MASCOT

When the NCAA defended the inclusion of FSU’s mascot as being “hostile and abusive”, they cited to the fact that although the Florida Seminole tribe supported the use of the Seminole as a amascot, the Oklahoma tribe did not. The problem is that they were wrong. This notion was based on the complaints of David Narcomey, a member of the General Council of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, who has vehemently opposed the use of native american mascots. What the NCAA didn’t realize, however, is that Narcomey’s attempt to get the Oklahoma Seminole Tribe in line with him was defeated 18-2. Armed with this new information, and a flood of complaints including those of Governor Jeb Bush, the NCAA has stated that it may rethink this position with respect to FSU.
