Conference Realignment for NCAA 12, Part II: Geography

Part I is here.

So here's part II, based on geography. Same NCAA12 rules apply:

NCAA 12 Rules: Must have 4 Independent Teams. Must have 4 teams per conference. No conferences can be destroyed. Schools consist of only those in NCAA12--no created schools or schools moving up to FBS in 2013, like UMASS.

Own rules: Make categories fit together as best given the rules above. Schools in the same state must be in the same conference. Independents must be drawn from states with only one FBS school in them.

So, here we go. Again, enjoy, discuss, debate, hypothesize how they'd do...whatever. You miscreants are the only ones who could appreciate my time and effort on something so useless.

Big East
Syracuse Orange
Army Black Knights
Buffalo Bulls
Penn St Nittany Lions
Pitt Panthers
Temple Owls
Maryland Terps
Navy Mids
Marshall Herd
WVU Mountaineers

10 Teams

3 Northeastern teams became Independents, so I drew the dividing line for this conference at the Civil War border.

ACC
UNC Tarheels
NC State Wolfpack
ECU Pirates
Duke Blue Devils
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
VT Hokies
VA Cavaliers
SC Gamecocks
Fuck Clemson Tigers

9 Teams

ACC=VA, NC, SC

SEC
FIU Golden Panthers
FAU Owls
USF Bulls
Florida Gators
FSU Seminoles
UCF Golden Knights
Miami Hurricanes
UGA Bulldogs
GT Yellowjackets

9 Teams

SEC = Florida and Georgia

Sun Belt
Alabama Crimson Tide
UAB Blazers
Auburn Tigers
Troy Trojans
Miss St Bulldogs
Ole Miss Rebs
S. Miss Golden Eagles
LSU Tigers
LA Monroe Warhawks
La Tech Bulldogs
Tulane Green Wave
Louisiana/Lafayette Ragin Cajuns

12 Teams

Sun Belt = Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. I threw Southern Miss in with the LA teams because Oxford and Starkville were closer to Alabama than LA.

MAC
Ohio Bobcats
Cinci Bearcats
Bowling Green Falcons
Miami Redhawks
Akron Zips
Toledo Rockets
Ohio State Buckeyes
Kent St. Golden Flashes

8 Teams

MAC=Ohio. It's tOSU's dream come true.

B1G
KY Wildcats
Louis Cards
WKU Hilltoppers
Tenn Volunteers
Vandy Commodores
Memphis Tigers
MTSU Blue Raiders
Ball St Cards
IND Hoosiers
ND Irish
? Boilermakers

11 Teams

ND finally joins the B1G...which is now teams from Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Conf USA
C. Mich Chippewas
E. Mich Eagles
Mich Wolverines
W. Michigan Broncos
MSU Spartans
Wisc Badgers
Minn Gophers
Illinois Illini
N. Ill Huskies
Northwestern Wildcats

10 Teams

CUSA = Michigan, Wisc, Minnesota, and Illinois

Big 12
Iowa St. Cyclones
Iowa Hawkeyes
Missouri Tigers
Kansas St. Wildcats
KS Jayhawks
Arkansas Razorbacks
Arky St Red Wolves
Ok St Cowboys
Oklahoma Sooners
Tulsa Golden Hurricane

10 teams

Big 12 = Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansa, and Oklahoma. Sounds bizarre, until you look at the map and see they line up nicely.

WAC
Texas Longhorns
UTEP Miners
TCU Frogs
Texas A&M Aggies
Rice Owls
Tex Tech Red Raiders
N. Texas Mean Green
Houston Cougars
SMU Mustangs
Baylor Bears

10 Teams

WAC = Texas. Pretty simple.

Mountain West
Boise St. Broncos
Idaho Vandals
Utah Utes
Utah St Aggies
BYU Cougars
Nevada Wolfpack
UNLV Running Rebs
New Mex Lobos
NM State Aggies
ASU Sun Devils
AZ Wildcats
Air Force Falcons
Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado St Rams
Nebraska Cornhuskers

15 teams

MWC = Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico in one division, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho in the other, divided sort of on a SW--NE axis. Wyoming was going to be in here as well, but I needed a 4th Independent, and it's not like anyone will miss them.

Pac12
USC Trojans
UCLA Bruins
Cal Bears
San Jose St Spartans
SDSU Aztecs
Fresno St Bulldogs
Stanford Cardinal
Hawaii Warriors
Oregon Ducks
Oregon St Beavers
WSU Cougars
Wash. Huskies

12 Teams

Sure, Hawaii would make sense as a geographic Independent, but screw you, I'm a Hawaii grad and we're winning the PAC 12, baby. Plus, it made a logical choice for a 12th team--not like Wyoming or Boston College was going to fit here.

Independents
BC Eagles
UCONN Huskies
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Wyoming Cowboys

4 Teams

I needed 4 Independents to satisfy EA's rules. Here you are.
