Diggs_medium

So Maryland fans really, really want Stefon Diggs to come to College Park. This is news to you for a few reasons. No, recruiting season isn't really done yet, as there are a few stragglers out there like Diggs, a top-flight wide receiver from DC deciding between Ohio State, Florida, and now in a late push, flyer-happy Maryland.

It is also news because Maryland football under Randy Edsall has been one long list of toe-stubbing incidents after another, but you don't put MIke Locksley in a recruiting battle over a DC commodity without a tooth-and-nail fight over said item. (Or, more appropriately put, a fistfight.)

However it works out, the story will be one of three insane storylines: Florida actually recruiting an offensive playmaker, Ohio State continuing the Urb-rip through recruiting season, or "Maryland has something good happen." In an offseason with jack and shit both phoning in sick, this qualifies as news.

Urbz is comin' to yur town and stealin' yur doodz!!

He opened his package from Auburn and it only contained a hundred shares of stock from Colonial Bank. His pawn broker had a guy come in to verify and authenticate Bobby Lowder’s signature and found out the value. Mr. Diggs was not impressed with the War Eagle generosity.

OK, so apparently his recruiting trip to tOSU

“”http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20120205/ARTICLES/120209684" >was abbreviated as he was due back in Maryland on the Saturday to take the SATs."

As in, the kid has previously taken the SATs (probably more than once) and failed to achieve a qualifying score. As in, while I’d love for Auburn to sign him, I hope they don’t pay too much because no matter how great he is there’s a decent chance he’ll never see the field, at least not before a trip through JUCO (after which time, he’s a free agent, anyway).

It’s kids like Diggs that make Houston Nutt long to get back on the sideline.
