I was thinking about this today
and Mississippi State is the Portsmouth of college football.
Think about it:
—Located in essentially the middle of nowhere? Check.
—Have fans that ring really, really loud bells? Check.
—Are only very intermittently good? Check.

Now, I'm not an aerospace engineer,
but as I understand it, lift is achieved by moving air over a curved surface, ie: the wings. The jet engine, doesn’t move air over the wings, it forces air backwards, which moves the plane forward, which is what moves air over the wings. With no forward movement, I think very little air would move over the wings due to the engines, alone.

But the thing is that the thrust is coming from the engines, so the airplane is "flying" at an altitude of 0
The wheels just don’t provide as much friction via contact with the ground. If the force moving the plane forward was being delivered via wheel torque, then it wouldn’t move.

That's just it - the wings are. What matters is that the jets propel the jet forward and not the wheels.
Once the plane is moving fast enough, the wings will provide the lift. How do you think seaplanes take off? Water is considerably slipperier than concrete.
