Did anyone else hear this classic: “when you see Cox, you’ve got to expect penetration.”

I wonder how many people in that picture

can catch better than your average Mississippi State receiver.

The French haven't the nature for war. Their Gallic laziness combines with their Latinate voluptuousness with the result that they would rather eat and make love with their faces than fight.

Thank God THAT'S over.

That Cover It Live program freezes up so fucking often. /makesmestabby

The SBNation commenting system really is fantastic, and it obviates much of the need for this sort of thing

However, I believe part of the idea of the Cover it Live thing is that it uses fewer system resources than the regular comments once you get up to 1500 or so comments. Also, it allows the moderators to filter out the crappy comments to keep the conversation more entertaining.

OTOH, SBN doesn't *need* moderators

Which means they can watch the game instead of spending the whole time wading through comments. I’ve helped moderate on DocSat’s liveblogs occasionally, and it makes it much harder to follow the games (especially if you’re trying to keep an eye on two or more) – and the ones here are probably a little busier on average.

And the “slows the system to a crawl” issue can be solved by having multiple game threads (BHGP often has one per quarter or half for their game, usually one per time slot for the rest) – just put up a new thread, link to it at the end of the existing one, and there you go.

Good Points

I tend to agree with you. I thought even when we had 1500-comment threads the experience was still superior to the CoverItLive system. I guess the only remaining justification I can come up with for the current system is that it’s more livebloggy than having a comment free-for-all (i.e., it makes Fearless Leader’s comments bigger).
