EDSBS NCAA 11 Online Dynasty for 360

UPDATE - Tuesday, 8/24:

1. We are now in Week 7. A few exciting games between humans this week. Last time I checked, Arkansas vs. Auburn was finished with DMoney02 triumphing over AULurch 28-27 in a nailbiter. Would have liked to watch that one.

2. Someone has to play Vandy(Avenge Meeee); I believe its Bonhoffer and UGA. Sorry I don't have the Dynasty in front of me since I'm at work. And the bastards block the EA site. Anyways, Avenge hasn't logged on in a while. Last checked his last login was 8/15. If it is the same tonight I am setting him to auto-pilot, and you can beat him as you see fit.

3. Since there are quite a few human v human games this week, I will give a little extra time. We'll see how we are looking as the weekend approaches.

4.. Still two open spots - anyone can join at any time! Info is below, look down there with your eyes.

Dynasty Name: EDSBS

Password: swindle

***********************************

I will commish one if I get good responses here. I'm looking for serious players who would like to be in one for a long time. Diehard fans that feel the need to get on EA's site and write stories for the Dynasty Wire and such.

I'll move it forward around twice a week, or when everyone is ready, whichever comes first. I may give extra time for weeks where humans need to hook up and play each other.

When playing a real human, *simulation football,* and *good sportsmanship* are required. If you go for it on every 4th and do 2 pt. conversions and onside kicks no matter the situation you are the worst kind of person.

It will be on Varsity skill so you can do as you feel to your CPU opponents. Standard house rules.

If interested: reply to this thread with 1. Gamertag 2. Preferred Team

Bama is taken (by me). My gamertag is "stunlocker" FYI.

If I get 12 people I will start sending invites. If I only get 4 or 6 people over the next week or so I'll start with that. If response is less or none then...well figure it out.

PS - If you are new to the game don't worry, I'm always glad to lend a hand or give a tip.

Don't forget to set up an extra pipeline state in the preseason!

Oh and...

Just in case I didn’t make it clear enough, this is Xbox 360 only, can’t do cross platform dynasties.

I'm game

Bonhoffer: Georgia

True randomness might get you calling a Hail Mary play on first-and-goal from the two yard line. You might catch the defense off guard with that, but your likelihood of scoring would be much less than if you called the utterly predictable halfback dive. - TSK

Got the 3 of you down...

I’ll give it til Monday or so and I’ll get us going

So far:
stunlocker: Alabama
AvengeMeeee: Tennessee
billytyra: Texas
Bonhoffer: Georgia

No Florida (Spencer I know you’re in B’ham but we can work our schedules around yours!)? No Big-10/Pac-10 love? And hey North Texas is still up for grabs! Keep ’em comin!

Maybe

I’ve never been a part of an online dynasty. However, I did live in a fraternity house when I was in college and we had 12 man dynasty that lasted for 20 seasons or so. It was a lot of fun. A couple of questions though:

Doesn’t varsity seem a little too easy? I think everybody would go undefeated except for human v. human games. I think it should be on Heisman.

Wouldn’t it be more fun to start with two star teams and work our way up to the better schools?

Can you use the real name rosters?

by hallmap62 on Jul 21, 2010 10:12 PM EDT reply actions

Don't know of a way

to use real name rosters in OD. It just asks if you want to generate auto-names or not.

Yes Varsity is easy, I wanted everyone to go undefeated except for human v. human games. I don’t think it should be on Heisman. If everyone wants me to bump it up to All-American though I’ll do that.

by anunaki on Jul 22, 2010 9:16 AM EDT up reply actions

You can use roster names

First you have to make sure you have them loaded in the main menu. Then once you start the dynasty and it ask you if you want to auto-name, select no, then the names you have loaded will be the names in the online dynasty.

True randomness might get you calling a Hail Mary play on first-and-goal from the two yard line. You might catch the defense off guard with that, but your likelihood of scoring would be much less than if you called the utterly predictable halfback dive. - TSK

by Bonhoffer on Jul 23, 2010 3:39 PM EDT up reply actions

sucks

I have full rosters now too. But since I have already started it I can’t fix it unless I erase the dynasty and start over, which would be a major hassle for all parties involved.

I just noticed Star Jackson is on my roster. Whoever did the roster apparently freaked out when they didn’t see him on the real roster, because he is the only misnamed player I’ve seen. I think his name is Bob Ogilvie, seriously.

by anunaki on Jul 26, 2010 8:48 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm in.

GamerTag: Actinide

Since my Dawgs are taken, I’ll go with my grad school: Wake Forest.

I’d be in favor of bumping up to All-American.

by Actinide on Jul 22, 2010 9:13 PM EDT reply actions

k

I’m bumping it up to AA unless a majority revolts then.

Gonna go ahead and send invites tonight. I won’t start it til Monday, 7/26, unless it fills to 12 players before then. If not we will go with what we have. To recap, here’s the teams that are taken:

Alabama
Tennessee
Texas
Georgia
Auburn
Wake Forest

You guys can get in and start workin’ those recruits. I am turning on Super Compliance Department mode to keep players from visiting Miami.

Still plenty of room! Let me know if you want in and I’ll just start shooting invites until we start.

This is my first post but...

I’ve been lurking EDSBS for upwards of a year, now. Just got NCAA ‘11 a couple days ago having been a fan of the series since ’09 came out. If y’all are looking for someone to bring the Triple Option to the table…

I'm down

for losing big time. If you are okay for the suckage, then take me as I am.

BigTexas89 – LSU (My name doesn’t give a Texas team priority does it? lol)

P.S. Never done the online Dynasty but a TON of normal dynasty. If it’s not too much different I’m sure I’ll catch on quick.

What do we do if somehow Colt McCoy ends up on an NFL team starting against Vince Young?

by inVINCEable on Jul 23, 2010 9:36 AM EDT reply actions

K

Jattod and bigtex, invites sent. Hallmap, when I try to invite you it says you don’t have an EA account. You probably need to put in the ridiculous 67 digit code that came with the game next time you are in the game and online. If that doesn’t do it I think you can go to EA site and link up your account with your gamertag.

The tally: 8 spots spoken for, 4 remain. Still plenty of time to get in!

by anunaki on Jul 23, 2010 6:52 PM EDT reply actions

Is auto-name a dynasty setting by the commish

or can each individual team coach find that option somewhere within his/her own menu?

by gtg991z on Jul 23, 2010 10:41 PM EDT reply actions

When you make the dynasty

It only has 2 options, to generate names or not to. Unfortunately no way to import or edit rosters that I am aware of in OD

by anunaki on Jul 24, 2010 2:44 AM EDT up reply actions

If you have a named roster...

and load it, then start the OD without having the CPU generate names… the names should be sent to everyone in the OD file.

how often

Will you advance weeks and how do we schedule games against each other/coordinate live games against each other. Sorry, new to the online dynasty thing.

by SEC Supremacist on Jul 26, 2010 9:25 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

Probably twice a week,

Once a week is fine if people are a tad slow. I know we all have lives outside of fun and games (unfortunately). Plus Starcraft 2 comes out tomorrow oh my!

I would expect people to message each other with good availability times when people need to play human v. human. Also no problem coming here to post your schedule of when you can play. Friending each other in xbox is helpful so you can see that they are on. Inviting to the game is easy enough, you just go to play your game, and when you press A it shoots the invite to the person if they are online and they can jump right in.

And if it is a week where 2 people are having a hard time getting on the same schedule, I can give a little more time. We can always talk about it here.

by SEC Supremacist on Jul 28, 2010 2:07 PM EDT reply actions

I know we were supposed to play realistically

but I honestly kept the ball on the ground the whole game and racked up 63 -7 on that cupcake season opener. Exactly what is the difficulty level again? I ask b/c they dropped about 60% of the passes and fumbled about 4 or 5 times, two of which were taken to the house by one of my DL and the other by an LB. However I do have the embarrassment of their first play after their first kickoff return(touchback) being an 80 yd touchdown pass. 20 yd reception on 1st and 10 into double coverage when 2 of my Dbacks collided. /facepalm.

by gtg991z on Jul 28, 2010 9:33 PM EDT reply actions

Samish thing.

I however, chose the wrong defense going into the game and got torched by trying to run the 3-3-5 . Still won easily. Is this Varsity? I guess it will assure that no one loses to NPCs but seeing as I chose Texas (gamer tag BigTexas89, not trying to proplay the league) I won’t have a challenge until the NC at this rate. AA por favor if not Heisman.

What do we do if somehow Colt McCoy ends up on an NFL team starting against Vince Young?

Pretty sure...

he said it was being bumped up to AA. However, the change might not take effect until the next week in Dynasty. Speaking of which, I do believe we are ready to advance. Unless we are waiting for the remaining two spots to be filled, of course! Cool with it either way.

Yeah...

we had 3 people who didn’t use up their recruiting minutes, but everyone has played.

Yup

1. Yeah slaughter the CPU, no biggie.
2. I did bump it to AA and it did seem easy. But then again I played San Jose St…
3. I can’t do it at work because they block the EA site grrr
4. Update comin up top!

by anunaki on Jul 29, 2010 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions

In response to the update...

You will be able to bump up to Heisman if you so desire, but we will have to restart the dynasty if you want the rosters to be accurate (which I would be in favor of). At least in years past, you could not import a roster file after the dynasty had been started.

As for AA vs. Heisman, personally I prefer AA since Heisman seems to make the CPU Superman. However, I have not played enough games on it in this year’s version to see if that is still the case. As you said, SJSU is not exactly a powerhouse by any means (and neither were most of the teams we played)…might need to do a few more games to see if this is really a problem or not. If AA proves to be too easy and Heisman is stupid hard, we could look into finding sliders on a site like Operation Sports as a sort of middle ground.

That’s my 2 cents!

by KrilDog on Jul 29, 2010 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

dont worry about restarting

We know our teams. We know who the players really are. I’m not that concerned about it, so unless someone has a fetish for hearing their players names, I wouldn’t bother.

by SEC Supremacist on Jul 30, 2010 11:13 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

agreed

especially now that I know I can bump up to Heisman without restarting (if we deem it appropriate in the future)

by KrilDog on Jul 30, 2010 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions

if there really want the correct names

they could always enter them in themselves.

True randomness might get you calling a Hail Mary play on first-and-goal from the two yard line. You might catch the defense off guard with that, but your likelihood of scoring would be much less than if you called the utterly predictable halfback dive. - TSK

Indeed they can, sir.

It took me about 90 minutes to do all of mine (having the chatpad helps a ton). They aren’t perfect since certain things are not editable (position, year, height/weight), but it’s better than what it was before. It really sucks that it won’t let you edit other teams besides your own, but what can you do?

I didn't know the game was that realistic

In that case I should do well on all games but choke near the end of the season allowing OU go to the conference championship and subsequent national championship. Then I will go to and win the Holiday Bowl.

The good news is that someone is bound to get upset by Vanderbilt, so at least we have that to look forward to.

The karma police..

..will be out to get me soon. I just wanted to note here, I did not beat DMoney02 35-0 in Week 4. I wish…

I am actually in another dynasty with him in which he advanced a week without me playing by accident. I lost the simmed game, and he felt so bad that he refused to play me and told me to beat up the CPU instead in our dynasty. I refused, but then he set himself to auto-pilot for the rest of the week. Very good chance he would have taken me down if we had played.

Because of this I have no doubt the karma police will come for me. It will probably happen in the form of a beatdown from AULurch in the Iron Bowl. Anyways, DMoney02 – he’s a stand-up guy!

WFU-Ga. Tech

Jattod,

Any chance we could get our game in tonight?

by Actinide on Aug 16, 2010 2:42 PM EDT reply actions

Hosed

For the record, I made every attempt to connect with Jattod to play the game. I sent him a message on Xbox Live — to no response — a friend request — still pending — and left two messages here — no response. Now my game is simmed, I’ve lost an ACC game, and one in which probably 85 percent of my recruiting class was visiting, to boot.

I know this is all for fun, but all the same, that doesn’t seem right. He might be a good player and I probably would have lost anyway. But at least give a guy a chance. I’m going to have to cool off a bit after this one, because while I’m a good sport, I also hate to lose at anything — especially when I never got a chance to take the virtual field of my accord.

I might be back. I might not.

by Actinide on Aug 17, 2010 7:47 PM EDT reply actions

All I can really say is that

I’m very sorry about the outcome of that- I checked in earlier Sunday afternoon but I didn’t see anyone else online- I got no popup alerts as to new messages or requests. I never think to go into the dashboard menus to check, as I could’ve sworn that users get those little popups with friend requests or new messages anytime you login to Xbox Live. I try to catch up to everyone on the weekends but got pretty bogged down this past. I did my recruiting while logged in Sunday afternoon. Monday night, I had to be at the rec dept, as I’m asst. coaching a team of 9 and 10 yr olds. The girlfriend works till 10pm tonight so I figured it’d be a good time, seeing as how I was booked last night. Seems I was too late though.

I apologize for holding up the season and forcing a simmed game where the outcome was out of anyone’s hands. For what it’s worth, I"m very very VERY surprised GT beats anyone when computer-controlled. For shits and giggles I watched a cpu vs cpu game of GT vs Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. GT got their asses handed to them until the closing seconds of regulation (literally a 60 yd pass with 0:07 remaining). Considering West K.Y. is “D-” overall on all three stats…

Anyway, I know I can’t really set this right but if anyone has any ideas as to how I can do something to make up for this, feel free to let me know.

Fair enough

Your apology is well enough to set it right. Sorry if I was a little hot earlier. I was traveling a good bit of last week myself as I stated earlier, so I can certainly understand other obligations.

Besides, I just lost to a CPU-controlled NAVY, so I don’t think I was going to be much of a match. Seems that building Wake into a national power is going to be a little tougher than I thought.

also

I’m sorry Actinide – I did notice you seemed to be taking more of an effort to get in touch. I thought about putting him to auto-pilot, and letting you know so you could beat him as CPU. However I did not do that for a couple of reasons:

1. It would have held things up for everyone a bit longer as I would have needed to give you an extra day.
2. I didn’t want to get in the business of deciding who is making the best effort and passing judgement, but…

I can see how you feel hosed and I also apologize. I was worried a bit when I moved the week – the only thing that allowed me to press the button was knowing you guys are in different divisions so you could meet again in front of 20,000 adoring ACC fans in December =)

For the future, whats everyone’s opinion on handling a situation like this? Shall we set a rule that if one person is checking in here, and the other isn’t, I will set the one not checking in to auto-pilot mode?

(Also for the record when I simmed it I was disappointed that Wake lost – no offense Jattod/gtg just pullin’ for the underdog =P )

Lets make it a point

to friend everyone via Xbox who is in our league next time on, so we can keep track of who is on and when, in better fashion.

FYI

Didn’t want to play with Texas any more because I was sure I’d cruise through the CPUs directly into a title game where I got my ass handed to me because I’m not very good at the game so I switched to a team that would lose most of their games anyway: Tennessee.

Sure enough, got my ass handed to me against GA. Great game, man.

What do we do if somehow Colt McCoy ends up on an NFL team starting against Vince Young?

Don't feel to bad

I play video games way to much and I still get my butt handed to me on a platter sometimes. It was still a good game.

True randomness might get you calling a Hail Mary play on first-and-goal from the two yard line. You might catch the defense off guard with that, but your likelihood of scoring would be much less than if you called the utterly predictable halfback dive. - TSK

the legend of Bonhoffer is growing...I'm scared

I don’t have results in front of me at the moment, but some possible scenario seems to be:

Bama/Auburn have all CPU’s til Iron Bowl? I think? Winner of that takes the West. Then most likely will be meeting UGA in the SECCG.

So more than likely we will have an undefeated team out of the 3 coming out with a lock on 1 spot in the title game.

GA Tech is the sleeper in the ACC quietly running the table. Actinide could win his division, and ruin the Jackets’ title dreams with an upset in the ACCCG.

If Jattod and GA Tech do run the table, will the polls put them in over a possible unbeaten CPU team, i.e. Texas or Ohio State, to play an unbeaten SEC team?

*I just realized now I have to play you inVINCE on the 3rd Sat In October now…so nope not all CPU’s til Iron Bowl. And Avenge Meeee was absent last week (he ate a non-conference loss), but could he bring Bonhoffer and UGA down a notch with lowly Vandy? Things are getting interesting…

I still have to play

Arkansas, UGA, and Alabama. 3 live people. These will also be Auburn’s 3 toughest games this year. Oh irony, how I hate thee. I screwed around against ULM and lost my breakout player at running back. I inadvertently invoked my inner Tubberville and beat Kentucky in OT with an intercepted pass run back from their own 15 (by a defensive end mind you). The next few weeks will not be fun on the plains.

They’ve definitely made it so that the game weather has an impact on the game. My recievers couldn’t hold onto the ball to save their lives.

oh yeesh

I forgot you get UGA regular season as well. SEC should definitely be interesting.

agreed

I would say we should have rolled an all SEC dynasty, but vandy and the MS schools would get hosed. We have 10 players, we can all moved to the WAC or something!

The plot thickens
