Eastern Washington University is really installing red turf.
They got a huge donation from one of their players who is in the nfl. He gave around 500,000 dollars. They need one million dollars to get it done by september 10th 2010. Other donations have poured in and they are around the 800,000 level. Only 200,000 more dollars to go. I think they can attain that and i like what i saw on espn as a virtual picture of the field. My guess is the ncaa will let this one slide but then make a rule that you can't have colored turf. It's getting alot of publicity now so other teams might want to do the same but the ncaa will crack down.

waiting for k-state to install purple turf.
how about a purple basketball court?
Great Oden's Raven I love Mike "The Predator" Dixon!
Purple turf has already been done. If the NCAA doesn’t do something about this, we may see games played on that seizure-inducing orange of Tennessee…

I don't think the NCAA will make any rule regarding it.
Well, they might, but they would probably have legal issues, RE:, Boise State. They’d just be asking for some school somewhere to sue and possibly win. Also, I would think that if they do make a “no colored turf” rule, they’d almost surely have to give Boise a time-table for getting a more traditionally colored turf, which I doubt they’d be willing to do.
Wont it be ridiculous when someone installs green turf?
This is getting out of hand.
This off-season officially sucks for FIVE reasons and counting...
I want KU to install white turf with green lines.
Or just make a Jayhawk that goes from end zone to end zone, sideline to sideline.

Teams that install non-green turf....
are teams that nobody but their own fans want to see on television. I will never watch a BSU home game on tv because of that turf. Looks horrible.

Seriously?
I guess I can get that, but after the long cold off-season, you seriously didn’t watch the Boise-Oregon game? Really?

I had to work that night...
I used gametracker, and then heard about the punch in the morning. As a UW fan, it was the most satisfying 10 hours of 2009.
what jurisdiction does the NCAA have in dictating what color a school has for their field?
i suppose the # of seats in the stadium. but i bet that’s more of a revenue thing than “competitive (dis)advantage”.
the reason why i ask is because the NCAA can’t tell a school who (or when) to hire a coach (much in the same vein as they can’t tell a school about hiring a professor). Are there any rules regarding facilities aside from seating capacity?

Joe: Lose the arm? What do you mean, lose the arm? My arm?
There will be no NCAA crack down on colored turf!
… Except for yellow turf, that is. How will we be able to see the first down line on TV?!
