Bobby Johnson reacts to the shooting death of Rajaan Bennett. Sometimes coaches are lying hucksters willing to sell their own children to get a four star recruit to attend their school. Sometimes they, in the course of doing the job they're paid to do care deeply about the people they work with every day and choose to bring into their program. Bobby Johnson is one of these, and it's not the first.

Watching grown men cry is a horrible, horrible thing, but the things that make them cry can be so much worse.

Senseless death and college football

shouldn’t be mixed as often as they wre this year. Rest in peace, you gridiron warriors,
Rajaan Bennett and Jasper Howard.

Words fail me here.

This was a quality kid from a quality school. Such a waste.

Compassion

My truly heart felt prayers go out to the family and hope that something can be done for them in terms of helping put them in a position to succeed. A position that Rajaan could have put them in had his life not been so senselessly taken.

PS. Who is the fat jackass reporter with the handlebar mustache that is chewing on a toothpick and shoving his note pad in Coach Johnson’s face the whole time. A perfect example of reporters without souls.

to be fair to the reporter

he’s got a voice recorder in his hand, and a pretty chintzy one at that, so he’s probably just trying to get clear sound bytes. and it’s not like he asked any douche-y questions.

We are gonna shock them with 5,000 mega watts of raw ROO POWER.

Seems like a genuinely good kid, from what I read about him.

This is a damn shame.

Bobby Johnson

Coach Johnson has always been one of the very best in the country, and as an Alabama fan, I would be ok with Johnson being our Coach if Saban had to leave. He’s always had a very tough job at Vandy, but his teams are never blown out, they play hard nosed football, and most importantly and above all else, he is a gentleman. There are far too few of those in the NCAA. I would love to have a child that could grow up and learn anything under that man.

Bobby Johnson = class

In a world driven by sound bytes, hype and sensation, Coach Johnson provides insight into why coaches around the league and nation have such universal respect for him.
