One of the best moments of this week's EDSBS Live LSU-UT spectacular was one caller's comment to the effect of "Show me your smart coach, and I'll show you my 5-0 coach." This got me thinking: clearly The Hat is better than any coach with a team whose record is worse than 5-0, but how does he stack up against coaches with equal records?
Chip Kelly: Chip Kelly may have proven that he can win a football game without playing well for a half, but Les Miles is winning football games without playing well for a whole season. Advantage: Miles.
Bo Pellini: By winning games without an offense, Miles is succeeding where Pellini failed last year. Advantage: Miles.
Rich Rodriguez: Rich Rod needed guys like Pat White and Denard Robinson to win games. Les Miles is winning with Jarret Lee. Advantage: Miles.
Nick Saban: Nick Saban is the guy who scored a 1600 on the SAT by studying for months, completing every prep book on the market, and learning Latin, y'know, just in case. Les Miles scored a 1600 on the SAT by wandering into the wrong room looking for the kitchen while stoned and then just filling in bubbles to draw a rocket. Advantage: Miles.
Jim Tressel: Jim Tressel is teaching football 101 at tOSU this semester. Les Miles is teaching post-modern performance art at LSU this semester, and we are all his students. Advantage: Miles.
In what ways is Les better than other undefeated head coaches?
