MIKE LEACH SENDS ANGRY GORILLAS TO HIS ENEMIES
Via Smart Football: this is the ad for Ted Liggett, Mike Leach's attorney:
In case you wonder whether Leach will pursue real legal recompense for what happened, there is the very real setup for defamation/libel/whatever nastiness Leach is going to accuse them of in the NYTimes.com statement up on the Quad Blog. But if you seriously doubt how nasty this is going to be, just look at the angry gorillas Mike Leach will send after you if you piss him and his ape-taming lawyer Ted Liggett off, son. THEY COME CORRECT WITH THE BACK-BREAKING CGI BLOWS. Mike Leach, thank you for being everything we hoped you would be, even in the midst of a controversial firing from your job.

So it’s pretty obvious that young Davis there is going by his mother’s maiden name, right? Because there’s no way those two aren’t father/son.

Dread Pirate Leach is gonna battle this thing tooth and nail because ESPN reported he had a 400k a year buyout, which is like 1.6 million left on said buyout, plus maybe that schweet 800k he missed out on by a day. This should get interesting.

PS why did he hire an ambulance chaser? What he couldn’t find a guy to come out from Dallas?

Leach to TT “Arr, we be takin’ all yer booty and yer fat wenches too”.
I hope he gets the whole $10 million and another $10 from Craig “I raised a pussy and I am a douche” James. You Pussy Boy James, ask Brandon Deaderick or Cory Reamer what a real football player looks like.

One of the big issues in this story is the ESPN angle, which is rapidly morphing from James/TTU vs. Leach, into the Worldwide Leader vs. Leach. As this involves one of their own employees, they should be reporting “just the facts” and keeping commentary and analysis to a minimum. Their failure to do this, and the gratuitous piling on of Leach is a disgrace. And of course there was the ESPN interview with Craig James as icing on this journalistic pile of shit.

Craig James is a dirty mofo. After leaving SMU, he conveniently got a job working for the real estate broker behind the SMU pay-for-play scheme:

First time I hear about someone getting in trouble for putting someone in the closet!

Seems to me Leach put the gun to his head, pulled the trigger and now wants to sue the gun manufacturer.

Jon Voight to play Ted Liggett in the made-for-TV movie. Feel free to make other casting recommendations…

Ah – accusations of paper shredding and racism in the hiring of a replacement, ignorance of 3rd grade vocabulary words that appeared in the employment contract, and the scouring of every word of depositions. Such memories. I certainly wish Michigan had just eaten the $4 million when it hired RR instead of taking the public relations hit for nearly a year. I have a feeling TT is going to feel the same way after its suit as well. Litigation is not pretty.

- - it’s traditional in the animal world for the baby apes to take their mother’s maiden name – hope that clears that up
as for craig, i love how he started his little statement last night:
“this isn’t something we asked for. we continue to be a victim of something.”
i think i know what that “something” is that’s victimizing you, craig – it’s your bitch mentality

Leech’s lawyers specialize in ambulance-chasing type cases.
They are the ones, to a significant degree, responsible for the country’s health care costs going over the roof.
Do you know how much MDs pay for malpractice insurance to cover the cost of defending
themselves from these clowns, literally ambulance chasers?
He should have hired lawyers specializing in labor law that have done this before. Agreed.
Leech picked the wrong lawyers like he picked the wrong fight at the wrong time.
And, someone with such bad judgement is getting romanticized?
I could understand the joke value of the fat-girlfriend-hater-Pirate, and the copy he provides, unlike vanilla Mack Brown.
But, it is time to let this thing go and find a head coach for TT with some brains.

Okiedomer: If your son had a concussion and was put in a shed for hours, would you just let it go?
I give Craig James credit for not going over there and smacking Jelly-Belly Leech around, that’s what I would have done.
by Charlie on Dec 31, 2009 9:53 AM EST reply actions
@ 20 Charlie -
Just to be fair, you know that ambulance chasers are p.i. attorneys and tend not to wade into the waters of med mal, right? Not saying there’s no link between litigation and the cost of healthcare, but I have to defend a rabid gorilla lawyer when I can…

“Okiedomer: If your son had a concussion and was put in a shed for hours, would you just let it go?”
yes
let’s be clear: the james boy was put in the shed b/c of his bitch mentality, not b/c of a concussion – he didn’t want to work, he cried about pt, his dad was calling up crying to the coaches (which i’d never do), etc. – my guess is leach said “get this guy out of my practice…go put him in that shed or something”
so yes, if my son was exhibiting that kind of bitch mentality, i’d let it go – hell, my coaches did worse things to me in junior high
@20 – don’t even get me started on how terrible your post is
by okiedomer on Dec 31, 2009 10:07 AM EST reply actions
I’d rather my concussed son in a dark, climate controled shed than out on the field getting furthered injured. The shed wasn’t a punishment for being injured, it was a punishment for lack of effort IMO. The kid had some sttitude issues and this was a way to punish him for those in a harmless way.
by Kevin@LSU on Dec 31, 2009 10:16 AM EST reply actions
Yeah to me the unstated subtext in this that Adam James wasn’t really injured. The docs cleared him and everything. If it comes out that he actually did have a concussion and was having symptoms, it’s a completely different story.
Most of the anti-Leach commentary tends to stem from the idea that he was purposefully humiliating an injured player and not giving concussions their proper respect. But Taylor Potts and his glorious beard sat out for weeks with a concussion, so Leach obviously knows that it’s a serious injury.
The new rumors are that during the court battle it will come out that Leach has been a total asshole to the AD and other high ranking school officials (which would not surprise me even slightly) and that he’s a drunk (which is again just a rumor). It will be messy, and Leach doesn’t seem like the type to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

Trust me, if the firm does p.i., the firm does med mal. And as someone who deals with this line of business exclusively,
a) the general public is far more to blame than plaintiff’s bar for the lottery-based ‘if there’s a bad outcome then someone owes me money" mentality that pervades every corner of our society
b) regardless, 99% of the plaintiff’s bar can drive a burning Lexus off of a 1,000 foot cliff for all I care
c) move on, Mike Leach. The SEC awaits you with open, loving arms.
by Bobby Decatur on Dec 31, 2009 10:26 AM EST reply actions
Bobby – Just to get all piss-anty, I also deal with this line of work exclusively and the two are water and oil. Perhaps in GA things are different, but here in Texas, if you’re one, you definately aren’t the other.
You are 100% right about Leach in the SEC, however. Wonderful.

Whether or not the James kid is a bitch is really besides the point. Would I let that treatment of my child go? Depends. Is my child an adult who can make decisions on his own? Accept responsibility for his actions? Use his free will, and, you know, make a decision to walk, transfer, go to the admin.? Either way, I certainly wouldn’t be grabbing for a microphone and tv camera and using my employer to play the “victim” card.
Let’s step back and discuss whether a D1 college athlete is ever “victimized” by anyone other than the NCAA….

I once got a CLE flyer in the mail to attend a confrence in Atlanta and those guys had a Rattlesnake on it. However, a Gorilla insane with blood-lust is much cooler.
It appears that not only is Mike Leach substantially awesome/insane but so is everyone with which he associates and does business.
If he is a pirate and his attorney a rampaging silverback then I wonder what his doctor, accountant, pastor, and mail man is like?

So, to recap:
— Leach is an asshole, albeit a (crazed) genius.
— The Craigs are assholes, and pussies to boot
— The TT admin is filled with assholes. Period.
— The lawyers, who may well be assholes, are gonna get a whole lot richer. Which, I guess, just makes them assholes.
