LEACH FIRED, SUCCESSOR INEVITABLE

Leach fired. Texas Tech are officially the stupidest motherfuckers on the face of the planet. New head coach announced: Craig James, of no coaching experience, ability, or prior aspirations to be a head coach. Jesus Jack Daniels Christ, there's analysis to follow, but Texas Tech just ate a hand grenade salad, shat out the pins, and then gave the thumbs-up as the whole mess rumbled in their belly.

PIrates. Sometimes they get keelhauled.

Craig James should be ashamed of himself. He just single handidly knocked Texas Tech’s program down to the middle-bottom of the Big 12 for the forseeable future all because his kid didn’t like the coach. Hope he and is dip-shit, pre-madonna son are happy with themsevles.

so, the really high-larious thing is that they served the walkin’ papers on Leach’s attorney right before they were to go into court for the TRO on the suspension. Yeah, uh, I ain’t an employment attorney but I did stay at a holiday inn express / went to GSU Law for 3 years (and graduated!) so it seems to me to be colossally stupid (if you’re TTU, or should that be TTTU? heh /abovethelaw’d) to simply hand the plaintiff all the ammo they could have possibly wanted for a retaliatory termination suit. Somebody done made a slight misunderstimation. We were discussing it here at the office and can think of no good reason for such timing of a firing. Unless they just decided they liked the guy, deep down, and wanted to pay him MORE $$ to go away (I wish he would end up at Vandy, he could teach Piracy Law).

South Carolina sould hire Leach as OC/Head Coach in waiting. Then when Spurrier is gone—PirateCocks all around.
Leach could live in Charleston when he isn’t in Columbia and be a real pirate.

Lets compare TT with SC:
TT- Middle of the pack in the BigXII south
SC- Middle of the pack in the SEC east
TT- Red and Black
SC- Garnet (dark red) and black
TT- Underarmor unies
SC- Underarmor unies
TT- Irrelevant prior to Leach
SC- Irrelevant prior to Leach
TT- Back to irrelevant post-Leach
SC- Would be back to irrelevant post-Leach

Calling it first: Tuberville to TAMU.

Was listening to Cowherd when the news came across ESPN. Cowherd had just finished answering stating that the reason Carig James got to comment on the matter as much as he did is because he works for ESPN. Then, he blew it saying that he “didn’t have to do it, of course.” I went from a respectful “No freaking shizzle, really?” agreement to wanting to jack him up in about two-tenths of a second.

“He didn’t have to comment.” Really, Cowherd?

Lost in all the hoopla about the dirty James family’s conspiracy against Leach and ESPN self-servedly blowing up a non-story is the fact that Texas Tech was clearly looking for an excuse to fire Leach. Seriously, have they investigated Alex James’ claims at all? It took them what, four days to go from the story breaking to giving Leach the boot. This is like the Mangino situation— whether Leach deserved it or not, clearly SOMEONE at TTU was pissed at him long before this happened.

@ 42/60 Craig James may be a schmuck and a little league father, but he was one of the few who didn’t take money at SMU. He only went there because his girlfriend, now his wife and the proud mama of little Princess Adam, was already there. That said, James has royally pissed into the wind on this one.

Don’t get me wrong I am not putting Georgia down, I am a Georgia fan, have been my entire life. I live in Georgia and trust me there are a lot of UGA fans excited about the win.
The talk is that Georgia is on the right track, and the next DC will be some great hire, and if Meyer is gone UGA could take the east.
So far I think three DC have turned the job down.
Richt has let a loss to South Carolina (UGA should never loose to SC) keep him out of a possible Nat’ Title game. He has also lost to Vandy and UK both unacceptable for a program like Georgia.
I am not saying they should beat the Vols every year but they should never get blown out the way there this year. Richt has done a good job building the program but I just don’t think he can take it the next level. Even with his success he can’t beat UF.
I just don’t want to be like the Shamecocks always talking about next year, or how hiring this cord. will make all the difference.

UGA lost to USC in 2007, one of two losses – just like the SECC and MNC LSU had that year. To say one conference team should “never” lose to another is shortsigthed.

And please tell me the DC’s that have turned UGA down? We had preliminary talks with Foster, but never offered officially. We (probably) gauged Koenning’s interest, but definitely never offered him. His agent extrapolated that exploratory conversation into a “UGA offer”. Do you really think someone would pick (redacted] and Illinois over Richt and UGA?

Maybe never is too strong but I can’t remember the last time Florida lost to Vandy or Kentucky, it is rare. Georgia looses too many games to lesser teams. How many times has Richt beaten Florida? If you are happy with being the third best team in the SEC east that’s fine. The Conf has changed a lot since UGA’s last SEC championship.
Meyer has had time to build his recruiting, Saban is at Bama, Lester is a screw-up but even he hasn’t totally undone Saban’s work at LSU, and Monty Kiffin (and I do mean Monty) is getting that UT team better everyday (esp with uber-recruiter Orgeron). Richt continues to loose to one of the three “have nots” in the east every year, can’t beat Florida, and look to be falling behind UT.
Foster, Koenning, and Smart. What do you think preliminary talks mean?
“Hey this is Mark Richt, I need a DC are you interested? No okay.” That is turning the job down. If they didn’t then one of these guys would be the DC by now, unless Smart is just wanting to wait until after the Nat title game.

I am not trying to get all the Gamecock and Mark Richt fans riled up, so sorry. I am just saying that Carolina is what it is: a major conf program in a small state that it shares with another major conf program, traditionally bad at football, and has made three great coaches look a lot less great.
As far as Richt goes I understand that he is really nice, a good role model, a good christian man, etc. but life is about choices. Alabama chooses to be a National Title contender so they do what it takes to get who and what they need to win.
If Georgia wants to be in Athens the first week of December every year watching Bama play UF or UT up the road in Atlanta that is a choice.

Okay, I am certainly in the minority here, and I appreciate the humor, but something is seriously wrong when s coach locks a player in a small room for several hours, forcing him to stand. It’s not waterboarding, but it’s certainly highly inappropriate.

Are the facts in dispute?

by Gregatron on Dec 30, 2009 9:51 PM EST reply actions

@85 -

Pretty much, yeah.

The “small room” at discussion here is the room where the oppo media gathers to interview visitors to Jones/AT&T (per CBS sports). Perhaps that room didn’t have enough pictures of Adam James’ pappy to make him happy.

Craig James was already a douche in my book. Looks like the drip doesn’t fall far from the bag.

by SierraSpartan on Dec 30, 2009 10:09 PM EST reply actions

As I understand it there were two rooms where he was confined. One was the room you describe SierraSpartan. The other was, I thought, and electrical closet or something.

I am not disputing anyone’s douchiness. But being a douche doesn’t justify poor treatment.

by Gregatron on Dec 30, 2009 10:38 PM EST reply actions

One would hope that Mr Adam James has the common sense to transfer after the bowl game. Or, much better, get the hell out of Lubbock rat now before he has to walk the plank into the nearest lake. He could go to Arizona, a skool that obviously does not have a functional football program. Or Michigan, whose coach would appreciate his tactics.

This is the biggest fuck job I’ve seen in my 56+ years. TTU has shot the hand that feeds it. Watch the commits scatter. How dare they screw with our beloved Cap’n Leach.
