This all really was a part of some geologically-timed scheme by the OBC. I swear.

Is that “threat level swiss” or “threat level Who Moved My Cheese?”

I’m under the impression that Mr. Meyer is suffering from “octo-rectitis”. He just can’t see his ass coaching against Nick Saban anymore.
All kidding aside, get better Mr. Meyer and enjoy being a family man. It’s much more rewarding than any BCS bowl victory. Thank you for your all of your contributions to the game I love dearly. God bless you and your family. Roll Tide.
P.S.: Cthulu = Guarded?

O,
In light of impending, life-changing birthological events, these are infinitesimal complications.
And by that I mean, do your kid a favor and DON’T name him/her Urban.

Ron Prince for UF Head Coach. I expect Orson to be leading the charge, as he has done for every other team that had an opening this year!

You know it. You can feel it. You have that voice inside your head that tells you: “You saw it coming. You did. You just didn’t put the pieces together”. First Mullen leaves for Miss St. Then Strong leaves for Louisville. All the potential second-in-command coaches left because they knew who was on Meyer’s favor. Now Meyer leaves so that his heir can take command of his powerful army, and show the world that has been cursing him and chastising him this whole year that they can’t get enough of him.
Yes, sir. You take a bow for your new, bald head coach. You take a bow for Coach Adazzio, Florida HC.

Thank god this didn’t happen during ND’s coaching search or an actual hurricane would have formed

Love that pic of Wes Byrum kicking that field goal for the second time. Eat it, eat it hard…

I am at my in-laws with limited access to TV and the interwebs. I just saw the news and I hope Urbs is OK, because Tress is 57 and doesn’t want to be JoePa. Looks like tOSU won’t have to deal with a buyout situation now. And Orson, stay away from sharp objects and windows for the next few days. TCOAN can make sure the car isn’t running with the garage door closed.

The threat level meter does NOT go high enough. Complete meltdown should be the baseline, then go up from there. Weekend…meet hell.

I hope Corch gets his health issues solved, but from the hater’s perspective, this couldn’t have come at a better time. The obvious in-house candidates already have jobs, other top candidates have signed extensions and the Notre Dame already hired the best-available guy on the market. Now Florida will be forced to either pick a second-tier (at best) candidate or pay a king’s ransom for a name coach. Mangino is out there, but do you really want to hire a guy who was fired despite being only two years removed from Coach of the Year because he was such a colossal asshole? And giving Mangino beach access is just bad for everyone. But, hey, Fulmer is relaxed, rested and ready.
by Harris on Dec 26, 2009 9:52 PM EST reply actions
I don’t know if this is good news or not, but from the other thread: ESPN is reporting that Corch will be staying at UF in a “to be determined administrative” role.

So far what we have heard is that he has a heart muscle defect. As someone whose father passed away of arrythmia at 46, I can say it really is a serious issue, and something he should tend to.
God Bless.

I’ve gotta say, I hate it for Meyer. Clearly an excellent coach, an all-timer as far as I’m concerned. That said, where in the world does Florida go from this?
If Meyer was the best, and he was on the very, very short list, any replacement is a step down. That includes the “dream candidates” like Stoops or Gruden, neither of whom has Meyer’s college resume.
This is so unbelievably unprecedented, it’s like (going Bama here), if Bryant had left for the NFL in the 70s and we’d hired Schembechler or Schellenberger – both HOF guys, but an obvious step down. That’s what Florida has to deal with. There’s no way to go up.
ps. please, please, please, please, please don’t call Saban

….if a “Bowden” is named coach, I was cease to be a Florida football fan for the duration of his term and all Florida gear will be packed away.

C’mon Foley, you know you got the cash, you know the fans want it, now go get Mike Leach.

As any reader of this blog knows, Mich, that’s unadulterated bullshit.

I have seen the next head coach in a revelation given to me at the altar of Saint Shug….
The next HC of Florida…. Tebow child
They are installing the mind control implant even as we speak… and the corch is seated at the control panel and having it explained to him…. by SPURRIER

So supposing this happened 2 weeks ago, we assume UF would go after Brian Kelly. Bowl game storylines abound.
Get well soon Corch, from a Nole.

This could be a whole lot worse.
1. Florida can hire and afford any coach they want. You know they’ll get someone good to replace him.
2. I really think next year was going to be a “struggle” with Brantley, because he looked like a square peg in the round hole of Urban’s offense. Maybe losing 2-3 games.
3. It didn’t kill him right there on the sideline.
by JD on Dec 26, 2009 10:51 PM EST reply actions
That being said… STEVE ADDAZIO FOR UF!!!! He has one year of experience coaching a highly talented offense on a team that went 11-1 and just missed playing for the national title. He’s totally qualified.
P.S. This means Coach Redacted has lasted longer at his new job than Urban lasted at his. That is just bullshit.
by JD on Dec 26, 2009 10:53 PM EST reply actions
bo pelini to florida.
why bo pelini?
- he player’s coach, relates will with kids. CHECK.
- he can develop talent crazy fast. good kids become great, great kids become fuckin’ AWESOME (read: SUUUUUUUH)
- SEC? he’s been there, he’s done that. has the ring to prove it.
- he’ll give orson the opportunity to beat the ‘bo knows’ meme into the ground like a tent stake.
i mean, geez, he nearly won the big xii WITHOUT an offensive unit. just imagine what he could do with florida talent alone.

Gosh, too stoopid to figger most of dis out. But, ORANGE looks like “George Washington Crossing The Delaware” by Robert Colescott.
I don’t expect any comments, despite the high intelligence of our community.

30, i’m a husker fan too; but if florida asks doctor tom for permission to speak with bo and comes to lincoln sporting a gignormous check with pelini’s name on it, don’t be too surprised if he at least listens to the pitch.
bo said coming to nebraska was a dream come true, but getting florida would be the division 1 football equivalent of winning the bazillion dollar powerball.

If I could pick anyone – Nick Saban.
Of course that won’t happen, so – Bo Pelini, Gary Patterson, Dan Mullen, Kyle Whittingham, Charlie Strong, Gene Chizik, Butch Davis (although I think we may be gun shy of health issues).
I also think we have more options than ND did. Being able to recruit whomever you like and not having to leave your state to do it is a big deal.

If this somehow turns out to be a ruse to get his players pumped up in order to avoid a letdown to cincy (they cant lose now) then Urban Meyer is a devilish genius.

I can’t believe no one else suggested it in over 150 comments since the news broke.

RICH BROOKS…just what UF needs, a little toughening up. Rich Brooks coached the Auburn game with a full heart attack at halftime. He thinks quitting for health reasons is bullshit.

Assuming Florida weren’t able to get Bob Stoops and did get Bo Pelini, the NU job would be open for all of 15 minutes before Dr. Tom called Turner Gill back home.

C’mon Orson, you must be secretly pissing youself with glee at the thought of Ron Prince possibly taking over the head coaching job at UF. How awesome would that be? He’s available y’know.

Lolz… when you put your mouse over the EDSBS security advisory system it says “shitshitshitfuckfuckfuckshit” The English language has certain limitations, but I don’t think there is a better way of characterizing the reactions of both the UF fanbase now and the government when they made that thing up.
