BOWDEN RECEIVES HAIL OF SUPPORT LEADING UP TO MEETING

Since an announcement is due tomorrow concerning his future, we consulted a few randoms for their opinions on the Bowden situation.

UrbanMeyer[1]

"I think he gets to retire whenever he's ready. He's earned it. He built that program. I don't think anyone wants to see him go. Especially me."

Star-divide

kim-jong-il-smiling

"Haters to the left, old man. Stay shinin', and don't let no one keep a lawya strong like you down. Ballin' in a bathtub ah Henny in PY tonight in your honor. PEAS--KJI"

jeffbowden

"I think much of the problem isn't with him. He's as sharp as ever. I think the problem are some of the new assistants brought on board in recent years, especially the offensive coordinator. They run, what? Over twenty different formations? Man, I know I couldn't remember all that. What's a college kid gonna do with that? They just need to keep him, and bring back the kind of people they used to have around there. No, I ain't givin' you my name." --Anonymous Source Close To The Situation

randomsurvivalist

"GET OFF MY LAND THIS IS THE REPUBLIC OF TEDSYLVANIA AND TED HIMSELF IS LEVELING A SHOTGUN AT YOUR NOSY ASS AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT SOME GERIATRIC OLD LADY AND HER RETIREMENT PARTY OR WHATEVER AND TAXES ARE FOR AMERICANS AND I HAVE RENOUNCED THAT NOW CALL THE WATER COMPANY AND TELL THEM TO TURN ON THE WATER BECAUSE I AM FREE AND MY WATER AND ELECTRICITY SHOULD BE TOO."

randyshannon

"I'm sorry, who?"

Picture 8

"Losing coach Bowden would a tragedy, as he might be replaced by a robot, and once they get their hands on something, they never let go because they are made of metal, and robots are strong."

They’re going to work out a deal where Bobby gets to keep the lifetime wins for the next 23 years he stays on, and Jimbo can actually run the program.

Obvious omission: Wilford Brimley.

The reaper’s a comin’ either way Bobby boy. It ain’t so bad up here either, waitin’ on the resurrection
and all. And once we do get our bodies back I’ll show you how to
win some damn games at your age. Come on Bobby, that sideline don’t prolong the inevitable.

I’ll never understand the argument that it should be Bowden’s decision. Just because he built that program doesn’t give him the right to dismantle it. And I believe he was well compensated for his earlier endeavors on behalf of the program. This was not a pro bono project that, in fairness to his hard work, he should be allowed to see through to the (bitter) end.

So, if you’re frightened of dying and— and you’re holding on, you’ll see devils tearing your life away. But if you’ve made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.

As Bobby’s make-believe attorney, I’d like to point out that the one-year extension he signed is, at age 80, a de facto lifetime contract and should be enforced as such.

Plus, as my client has repeatedly and somewhat lucidly professed over the past six years, he’s thisclose to “being right back up there.” That he equates “up there” with heaven is immaterial, and more importantly, renders moot my argument.

Random thoughts dept.

Bobby’s record against UF is reminiscent of another FSUian…Richt. Might try to play defense once in a while.

People with dangly earlobes are trustworthy. Connected earlobes mean the person is selfish, envious and stingy. Proven scientific fact.

So, he would come back in a diminished role. What exactly does he do right now except wear a Panama hat, occasionally listen to something in an ear piece, and constantly get escorted by the arm by state patrol? Oh, he gets credit for whatever wins they happen to get, which may get him the record if JoePa happens to die first? Got it.

Tallahassee Democrat says he will retire tomorrow, unknown if he would coach in a bowl game. If so, Gator Bowl might invite FSU .

The whole concept of “going out on his own terms” is ESPN’s way of trying to influence their will over these (PSU/FSU/your legendary coach inserted here) schools. If ESPN had this dilemma, it would end with the old fellow out on his ear on a cold winters night in Connecticut.

cbl is correct. He was fairly compensated for his works while he was performing them. It is time to move on and anything else is just being selfish at the expense of FSU. PSU is in the same boat, but since their record has improved recently, the heat is off. For now. I’m sure that it will cycle back with their first downturn. At least they haven’t mismanaged the clock as bad as Les Miles yet.

Everyone knows The Bear ain’t in heaven – he’s sittin right next to me drinking something called a Mojito (unbelievable, but he swears he loves them) and planning a rude welcoming party for Lane Kiffin. I don’t have the heart to tell him that Lane isn’t scheduled to arrive until 2016….

Per ESPN: “According to sources, Bowden was given two options: return to FSU in 2010 as an ambassador to the program, in which he would have little input in the day-to-day operations of the program, or retire after the Seminoles’ upcoming bowl game.”

How does Option A differ from Bowden’s role the last 5 or so seasons?

I think the robots ate Bobby’s pills for fuel. No one is safe. Soon the Metal Ones will come for you.

Bobby needs to get away from those robots, because they use old people’s medicine for fuel.

It’s plainly obvious that Bobby fears he’ll wind up like Bear – dead within weeks of hanging it up. I don’t think catching the early bird special at Wolfie Cohen’s Devil House is his idea of retirement.
