NOTES APOLOGIES ETC.
--For the nth time: never mind the deltas.
--No, we're not going to rank Pitt that high, since putting them where we did already feels like doing the splits over a steak knife. They lost to NC State and will implode at any second oh you just watch YOU JUST WATCH. (weeps, doesn't know what's real anymore.)
--Iowa doesn't deserve to fall that far, or maybe they do. Requesting input.
--Ditto for Oregon, who...well, we still aren't really sure what happened to them, because saying "you got run tha fuck ovah" can't really be considered any form of analysis whatsoever.
--Seriously, don't mind the deltas.

I’m holding my breath over here waiting for someone to criticize the “win at all costs bloddlessness” of Mack Brown since he left Pony Boy McCoy in for the entire UCF game.

“bloodlessness” – too.many.double.letters.

LSU has lost in a quality fashion to top opponents and has run over tasty tasty cupcakes: Auburn is unquestionably their best win, and it came at that time when they fell into a lovely month-long offensive-production canyon ( per SMQ’s post on the subject ).
To my mind, this does not a top-ten team make. Your mileage may vary.

Iowa? Trash. Get them out of there.
I hope Penn State has road-rash from that fall.
Ann Arbor is still a whore.

Considering that Iowa was running on Stanzi’s inscrutable magic, and that even when he comes back said magic (given the loss of the undefeated dream) will likely be drastically reduced, I’d say that 8 is actually quite generous. I don’t see them staying within 14 of tOSU, as much as it pains me to consider Sweatervest and Pryor any sort of favorites, ever.

THE DELTAS!! THE DELTAS!!
Good spot for Iowa. They are a one loss team, but they lost to Northwestern.

Okay, so I just went and read the article about the Texas game and they make a point to mention that McCoy was last in with something like 9 minutes to go in the game. However, the UT total passing yards = McCoy’s total passing yards…so some other QB went in at some point and handed off or took a knee? or Brown is attempting to look magnanimous for not putting McCoy back in on defense?
Did anyone actually watch this game who could confirm?
Can anyone tell I’m bored at work?

I am a Texas fan, and of course I hope we win the MNC.
Having said that, remind me again of our quality wins. . . . We should be ranked 3rd based on our resume and performance hitherto.

You can let Iowa stand pat… I mean, really? Look at it. You could argue another team ahead of them, but you get to drop them next week when they inevitably lose to tOSU. I think you’re good on Iowa.
I’d have Houston a bit higher, but I understand… it’s hard to overcome a loss at UTEP. Especially now that UTEP is so plainly bad. DAMN YOU PHIL STEELE!
Woe to me, but I’d have tOSU higher. They may have turned a corner and, hey, they’re odds on for the Rose Bowl.
Boise is too high.
Gnash!

USF > Clemson, Wisconsin, Stanford, Utah, BYU (Well, maybe not Stanford)
Give my boys some love. Just like Clemson, they beat FSU too. Except we dominated them for the entire game, not just the 4th quarter. USF could have put up more points, but was content to try and run out the clock the entire second half to avoid losing (which wasn’t ever a real threat). We played them as if they were a ranked team, not as if we needed to dog fight for 3 quarters and pull away.
Georgia Tech, Iowa, and LSU should all be ahead of Boise State.
I’d also swap Oregon and Pitt. Pitt’s not losing for at least three weeks (ND followed with a bye). Just move them up now. You can let them sink after they lose to WVU and Cincy.
It’s just got to feel strange having Arizona ranked that high. I hope they win the PAC10. Talk about humor.
Texas #1 is silly. Quite knocking your team down. Should swap them with Florida. I mean I was proudly cheering for the commodores at the sports bar on Saturday. Just put them at 1. They deserve it until they lose at the SEC championship game (if they lose).
And for crying out loud. Give me some more USF. Two loses to #5 and #12. WVU last week is a better quality win then FSU (the reason you rank Clemson). Oh yeah, and we beat FSU too.

My dream scenario:
Florida/Alabama coming into the SECCG undefeated. Please, I pray to all that is holy COTG, that the loser of that game gets to set their sites on a doe-eye’d Boise State to funnel their rage. I want to see 4 quarters of Falcon-Punches ala UGA/Hawaii 2007.

Thanks for the Oregon State love (filling in mascot for school = too easy).
I honestly dont know what to make of my beloved Beavers. They are 6-3, but those three losses are all against good teams abov themm in the poll. Close losses against Arizona and USC plus a 28-14 loss at home to a Cincy team that was clearly better (thougha well fought game).
I would say you may have them a bit high, but Mike Riley is a soft spoken, Care Bear assasin and they could be anywhere from 30-15th by the end of the year.

Colt threw the ball to Shipley all quarters not named first. 470 yds through the air. I don’t remember seeing Garret Gilbert in there, but I was also distracted by delicious tailgate barbecue. But it was basically air raid all game followed by Johnson when we got in the redzone.

I agree with previous posters.
-USF should be ranked ahead of Utah, Wisconsin and Clemson
-Iowa is right where it should be
-Florida should be 1, Alabam2 and Texas 3
I would also put Arizona higher, around 10 or 11th (I know it feals funny, but it will feel right after a while)

If Oregon should be ranked above SC – and they should, having won head to head, Boise State being undefeated, and Washington not doing so well – then is there anything other than the Penn State win keeping tOSU above USC?

I don’t know what all the hubub is about, ya’ll have these teams way out of order. My moustache has more plays than some of these teams, but here ya go – maybe next week you’ll untuck yourself and rank em the way I see it:
1) Virginia – just like the name cause we used to laugh at that word for lady parts when we was growin up.
2) Tennessee – someone told me that Monte Kiffin be coachin down the way. Ear lobes bigger than LBJ, useful for hearing the buffalo comin.
3) Oregon – just picked up Ben Wallace off waivers.
4) Iowa – they still playin that Neil Kinnick guy?
5) Barry Switzer and Tom Osborne – beat em both, made them lick my boots one at a time
6) Asians – amazing how they can make the letter “L” sound like an “R”
7) Early Times Whiskey. The big bottle, you dummy.
8) Notre Dame – put em in the top 10 after that walk on kid made the last tackle against Georgia Tech to seal the win.
9) South Carolina – they got a nice flag up on that there capitol
10) Florida – nice to see someone winning with the rejects from FAU.
Also gettin some play: FU – not sure what school that is but I like the way it sounds; Colorado – helluva coach; Kansas State – i’ll outlive Snyder & Paterno with a steady diet of cigars and fajitas; Florida St – that Bowden character seems to be turnin things around finally.

11 – exactly. Just like Alabama and Utah last year.

McCoy was last in the game before UCF took over with 9:13 in the clock. UCF drained the clock against a lot of backups on D and failed to score. The backup QB, Gilbert, took the last snap.
Not sure why it is all that pressing considering all the times Brown has had Texas coast home even when reaming a team until the final gun might have helped in the polls, but there there it is.

I’d personally move Stanford to that Pac-10 knot you have in the middle and let the cream rise to the top. They’re hot right now and I’d put money on them to win straight up this week against any of the teams ranked between 8 and 25.
Am I a bad or good fan for not caring if ASU loses this weekend? An upset at Autzen would be nice, yes, but this season has been such a wash I almost care more about Arizona keeping their “only Pac-10 or Big 10 team to never go to the Rose Bowl” streak alive.
Who am I kidding? Stoops will find a way to fuck it up.

I’m OK with most of this. The BCS, however, finds it necessary to rank the USF Bulls in November just as a Higgs boson experiment. They also saw fit to reward Wf’nV for a really ugly win over Looeyville. I will not ask you to do the same. At least until Pitt implodes in Morgantown on the 27th. Deal?

@7 – UCF ran a 7ish minute drive in the latter half of the 4th quarter, which was awesome for eeking out a cover when it looked nigh impossible. I think Texas took the ball back with under 90 seconds to go and ran it out from there.
That’s from memory on the UCF radio feed, so don’t quote me on the specifics.

"you got run tha fuck ovah" can’t really be considered any form of analysis whatsoever."
The last part of that sentence is correct. It’s not any form of analysis. Here’s how we
experts over at [insert name of your couch] do it:
“you got run tha fuck ovah in the first dang quahtah, bitches”
Now that’s insightful, possesses detail that lends shape, form and reason to the argument,
balances it with color and flavor, builds a foundation under the rationale and polishes up
the whole shebang into a crystal clear bowl of what-the-f**k-just-happenedness lucidity.
Oh yeah, and our D was tired.

I would complain about South Florida not being ranked but I am convinced we will totally fuck it up on Thursday by honking to Rutgers. Again.

I realize life is better when daU gets more press, but they should be around 15 or 20. South coast bias? What what what

@ 25 “I would complain about South Florida not being ranked but I am convinced we will totally fuck it up on Thursday by honking to Rutgers. Again.”
Oh yeah, there’s no way we beat Rutgers on Thursday, but we have to lobby while it’s still semi-rational.

As a gator fan, I am the last person to be a USC homer. However, how, exactly, are they 3 spots below Ohio State when both teams have two losses and they beat Ohio State in the horseshoe. I understand they had a bad loss to Washington just like OSU lost to Purdue but for some reason they are penalized more for their loss to Oregon in Eugene than OSU is for their loss to USC in Colombus.
Don’t get that one at all.
