Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

ALL HAIL THE ALPHABETICAL!

A thousand Wannstachealanterns point you in the direction of the glorious Alphabetical, now up and lumbering around over on SBNation.com. You can go look at that when you pry your eyes off the pumpkin pics. Yup. Any second now.

Picture 19

Tackled topics include Ohio State's predictable bargain bin trudging towards a Big Ten title, USC's hilarious poll buoyancy, and the mythical land of Agartha, where 12 foot Pete Carrolls bask in a subterranean rays of light and get voted first in the Pac-10 no matter what the actual records of the teams in the Pac-10 are.

Boise lost, and I missed it?

“J is for Jest. The one team bailed out to the greatest degree by Stanford’s defeat of Oregon is Boise State. Though the Broncos take a hit to their strength of schedule, they now have a clear path for voters to place them above Oregon now that Boise has one loss and the Ducks have two. … "

wipes snot on shirtsleeve from elbow to wrist from sobbing and otherwise inconsolable as orphaned child. takes deep, halting breath. puts down chemicals from making letter bomb to SEC LSU-BAMA was a helluva a game. We was robbed on the INT, but, as OS and the rest of the free world pointed out, our offense was not in the surest of hands on that last drive so it probably didn’t matter. Also, I volunteer to be Patrick Peterson’s personal electrolyte assurance assistant next year. I’m talking Jamie Foxx on Jarhead type dedication to his hydration. tries to put on brace face. resolutely continues mixing chemicals

dammit. I hate it when I call myself brace face. “brave face”

I agree with your comments on the Cincinnati line, but what Zach Collaros did in the first half of the UConn game was as good or better than Oregon’s qb in the USC game.

Spencer, you are without question the finest writer on these here interwebs. But your SEC slip is showing. Calling tOSU’s 24-7 domination of PSU ugly makes me wonder what you would call that 13-3 win over LSU or your non-cover of the spread vs. Tennessee (yes I’m bitter and down $220). Or some of the Alabama wins that lacked TDs in any great numbers. One thing that is for certain. Both conferences couldn’t find enough competent referees between them to field an entire crew, and that includes replay officials.

I fully expect tOSU to show whatever Pac 10 team that shows up in the Rose Bowl what a complete defense will do to an offense that hasn’t seen one. And Terrelle Pryor has turned a corner. Don’t let the percentage fool you. A few throw aways and a couple drops skewed the numbers. The important one was 0 INTs.

It’s a good thing I’ve been overloaded at work since this weekend. A Good Thing (read: No! Not A Good
Thing!! A freaking expletive-filled thing!!). Else I’d have had time to finish my wrathful, marathon diatribe
about the poll voters and the college football media.

It was a good rant, too. Lots of powerful rhetoric, shaking of literary fist, quoting of appropriate, masterful
Shakespearean dialogue, venting of spleen and bitter, derisive humor. You get the idea.

Pity I don’t have time to actually, well, write it, given how tightly wound up I am today and in need of
having all that tightly-woundup-ness vented somehow, and go somewhere constructive. The kind of
tightly wound up that makes people swivel their eyeballs at you carefully, tracking your movements so
that they’re not in your line of fire at any point. So tightly wound up that I was at some risk of an aneurysm
if Dr Saturday and maestro Orson hadn’t stepped in wielding their mighty pens, oh so so so satisfactorily,
as usual.

Having come back from emergencies outside the football world to find restorative words, emotions expressed,
and all the heavy lifting already done, I think I have time for tea, even. I might even calm down by the end of
the day.

Orson, your selfless devotion to your craft is saving lives, yes, saving lives.

What jd4au said. I mean, I know it’s 2004 and everything, so your memory may be a little hazy, but they didn’t lose that year, either. At least not until the bowl game.

Just an inept typo. Corrected.

ohiodawg @4:

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I’d still like to point out that Masoli was playing against
USC and not UCon. With all due respect to the Huskies, whom I empathize with mightily, they’re
no USC. And I’m usually the last person to say anything nice about USC even when they deserve
it on account of how often people say nice things about them when they don’t deserve it.

The UCon line played magnificently.

gamedaytribe @9:

You’re daft. Did you mean Cincy instead of UCon? Yes, yes, I did. Still daft, tho. Yes, yes I know.
Only idiots would bother reading my drivel.
