It’s baby steps, Holly. At transitive win over Kent State is better than 7 in a row. Technically, we have transitive win over USC to go with our one actual loss. I guess 15 years of meh football has dulled my senses of reasonable football.
I gotta go – the NDNation posters need help with fund raising for another billboard.

I was wondering when you were going to mention KSU’s lead in the Big XII North.
I figure it’s roughly equivalent to Virginia Tech’s annual appearance atop the ACC basketball standings 2-3
weeks into conference play—two weeks later no one will remember it happened as order is restored
(KU in this case?).

If Notre Dame steals an at large bid from, say, Penn State by winning out against the cupcake schedule they’ve dealt with, then get raped to shit in another BCS bowl game, I am road tripping to Indiana and burning their football stadium to the ground Visigoth style.

Holy Shit!
Just watched the Auburn Football Review (needed a laugh after all the drama here in T-town yesterday)… Cody Burns got 2 teeth knocked out and went back in the game! What does it take, silver bullets and wooden stakes?

wfguiteau – Are you seriously bitching about ND’s schedule and saying Penn St deserves to go? Akron, Cuse, Temple, and Eastern Illinois as non-conf? Seriously?
by cjdomer04 on Oct 26, 2009 12:58 AM EDT reply actions
I honestly can’t think of something less reasonable right now than a ND fan arguing with a PSU fan over which of the two deserves to go to a BCS bowl.
by theinternetz on Oct 26, 2009 1:14 AM EDT reply actions
Penn State could win every remaining game by 90 points and they still wouldn’t deserve to go to any BCS game based on their absolute chickenshi* non-conf. schedule
by Sims on Oct 26, 2009 1:20 AM EDT reply actions
cjdomer: That plus a Big Ten schedule (especially if PSU finishes with one loss) beats Notre Dame’s schedule hands down.

SpartanDan: Penn State SOS: 79. ND SOS: 17. Documentation: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt09.htm. Jesus, it’s like people are being deliberately stupid at this point.

point is moot. ND will not win out.

ND’s SOS will also take quite a hit in the coming weeks

But it’s ND seriously they are going to lose by 350 if they play any team not named Pitt

I was disappointed at the lack of hot tail that traveled from Auburn to Baton Rouge for the game. However, very nice people.

Hey number three Texas!
Can you hear all this scheduling talk? Who’s on the sheet for next year, Mack? Visible Changes University? Blinn junoir College?

Orson, your metaphor sucks. Fredo was older than Michael Corleone. Who is ND supposed to be in this thing? Santino? Or Vito himself?

Re: Notre Dame and Penn State
Neither are very good, and neither really probably deserves to be in a BCS bowl. But if they both win out, at least one will get in, probably ND, largely because of the money they bring in for the BCS.
Re: their strength of schedules
Notre Dame’s looked bad in the beginning of the season, but the surprising quasi-competency of teams like Pitt, Stanford, and Washington have shown that their season is tougher than at first glance. Penn State’s OOC schedule is typically pathetic – Akron, Syracuse, Temple, and Eastern Illinois. Even their conference schedule provides its share of cupcakes – Illinois, Indiana, and Northwestern.
by AS on Oct 26, 2009 9:33 AM EDT reply actions
Temple is going bowling baby, 1st place in the MAC!
In all seriousness PSU has a terrible out of conference schedule this year, as Syracuse was the “marquee” matchup selected 8 years ago which turned out to be a big mistake. We do have BAMA the next two years.
As AS mentioned, ND schedule looks much better now than it did in September due to the emergence of Pitt, Stanford etc.
The only thing I can say in Penn State’s defense is that they are easily beating the creampuffs they are facing so far, which is all they can do at this point. They looked terrible against Iowa, but maybe they are actually improving as the season progresses(at least that is what i tell myself)
by DanF on Oct 26, 2009 10:04 AM EDT reply actions
By no means do I think ND should get a BCS bid. I merely stated that it is just stupid to say Penn St should go b/c ND’s schedule is too easy.
SpartanDan: “Penn State SOS: 79. ND SOS: 17”, with Penn State still to play Northwestern and Indiana.
by cjdomer04 on Oct 26, 2009 10:27 AM EDT reply actions
Notre Dame only goes to the BCS if they’re ranked in the top 12 in the polls. The only currently ranked team they face is Pitt at 15-17 depending on the poll. Even if they win out, and considering Weis’s record against ranked teams that’s damned unlikely, the schedule isn’t enough to get them ranked that high. I hope. Given their purely theoretical “defense” and the offense’s penchant to fuck around for 3-1/2 quarters or so, the last thing I want to see is them lined up against a UC or TCU team pissed off about missing the MNC and looking for payback against a nice, fat target likely a deeply flawed traditional power.
by Harris on Oct 26, 2009 10:59 AM EDT reply actions
I think it’s pretty safe to pencil in ND for the Gator bowl at this point. Wit hthe upcoming schedule consisting of:
Wazzu
Navy
Pitt
Connecticut
Stanford
Well, there’s a pretty decent chance we’ll go 4-1 in that stretch. 5-0 coudl happen, but not unless the defense decides STOP LETTING 4TH AND 17 PASSES GET CONVERTED. God I was at that game and wanted to throw shit.
Anyways, given that murderer’s row, a BCS bowl is a nigh imposibility at this point, unless a lot of teams above us start losing. A bit of a disappointing season, but at least some progress has been made.
And yes, it was very nice to strangle the baby in the crib this weekend. The only assholes I saw all day were BC students spraying cars with mustard and being, well, BC students, and then the playerso n the field who apparently like to late hith and go helmet to helmet. I didn’t see Clausen push the guy till after the game, but I thought it was hilarious. Fuck BC.
