Beginning on a sober note, I’d just like to point this final score out: Villanova 27, Temple 24. TA-DAAAH

Worse for your career: Bob Davie calling you slow on a nationally broadcast game, sucker-punching an opposing player after the game, or getting in a fight with your coaches and teammates?

Didn’t that blow your mind? THAT JUST HAPPENED.

by JD on Sep 4, 2009 1:34 AM EDT reply actions

Was that Wes Byrum that got punched at the end of the game?

Is Chip Kelly pretty much obligated to toss Blount off the team now? New coach, new attitude and all that shit. I feel like if you’re willing to reject high caliber recruits (Kiffin to Tajh Boyd) or start pulling scholarships (every coach), you pretty much have to bring down the axe in something this bad.

This is like some old-school Woody Hayes shit, man.

I was busy playing Farmville on Facebook. Anything noteworthy happen at the post game handshake?

yes, something that made the rest of the night worth it

Yet another example of what happens when keeping it real goes wrong.

I feel bad that I am equally entertained by the return of the blithering morons, racists and homers clogging up ESPN.com’s message boards right now. You couldn’t imagine a dumber place if you tried.

The postgame scene in Boise was even more shocking than North Texas holding a team to 10 points in a sanctioned game of college football.

by JD on Sep 4, 2009 1:56 AM EDT reply actions

What a intense case of moral ambiguity—

Should Blount be kicked off the team? Absolutely.

Did whatshisname need to get facepunched? Abso-fucking-lutely.

If I were Chip Kelly, and Blount had knocked the dude out and walked stoically back to the locker room… I might
have let him off easy.

Oh, and Prederick, I have a feeling the comments on that Youtube video are going to be far, far more intelligent than that of the ESPN board.

@ 10:

I can imagine a dumber place: youtube comments.

That was an ugly game..But he did fit in the ass whoppin’.

Iowa State & Indiana both win so no colossally bad losses for BCS schools yet.

JD: I always thought North Texas should have changed their nickname to Forty.

Wisdom from the youtube boards, and life lesson for Byron Hout: wear a helmet when you taunt.

So, I always kinda thought that Scott Frost was kind of a badass due to the whole trap option bulldozing he did as a Husker (a sort of proto-Tebow if you will), then playing as a DB and special teamer in the NFL was pretty cool too, but badassery was completely confirmed by how he manhandled Blount when he tried to go into the stands there.

@19

True story: Scott Frost grew up in a town called Wood River. Like a big, raging torrent of lumber. So yeah, he’s tough.

@20

There is tough, and then there is “stop Lawrence Phillips from dragging your girlfriend out of your apartment by her hair” tough. Blount is just a puppy. Lawrence Phillips would have driven a stolen car into the stadium and killed half the BSU team after that game last night. Kudos to Frost for being smart enough to know the difference.
