Ernie Davis, first black Heisman winner. Died from leukemia without playing a down in the NFL, one of the saddest stories in sports.
On the upside, only 44 days of Fulmer Cup to football!

For 12 days before the season begins I want Joe Roth to be honored.

I don’t want to make this any worse than it already is, but… isn’t it 45? http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?month=09&day=05&year=2009&hour=&min=&sec=&p0=0
Is there some intersectional match up that Friday night we’re counting? If so I must insist that we start with that Thursday’s South Carolina vs NC State Game in the cross border battle of in state after thoughts.

Anyone that didn’t see the movie, (The Express), I recommend it. It will definitely make you psyched for fall.

when do we get blessed with the EDSBS staff preseason top 25?
is it too soon to be asking for bowl projections?

Regarding THE EXPRESS, I have trouble recommending a movie that is so historically inaccurate. It’s decent entertainment, but it’s annoying when Hollywood takes dramatic license with a story that, on its own, is already inspiring enough.

Slightly OT but an interesting factoid: Syracuse’s 1959 captain, Ger Schwedes, was born in Nazi Germany. I shudder to think was LSUfreek could do with that.

Good points…I used the movie as a chance to learn more about a part of my team well before my time.
Then I read those articles and others to get a sense of where the reality and movie strayed apart.
