wait a minute--you mean someone other than canada dry makes ginger ale?

in all seriousness, try some bulleit bourbon. maybe not as fancy as the bookers or the pappy van winkles, but it's fantastic for the money (in Lexington, at least, its 20 bucks for a fifth). i think it rivals maker's and woodford for taste.

@11 - Now that there is a Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh, I have turned my attention towards finding turkish families to sell Doners outside. Totally need that addition.

Now I like good ginger ale as much as anyone, but if you're mixing your Makers and ginger ale to the point you care what ginger ale is in it, you are using too much f***ing ginger ale...

P.S. For those who care, last time I checked, Blenheim is still available at the Candler Park Market on McClendon. Um, that's in Atlanta.

Holly, I'll try Reed's, for sure. But the white-trash streak in me is drawn to Blenheim (the "not as hot" version is spicy enough; the hot one made me wonder if a big shmear of wasabi might cleanse the palate), if for no reason other than the fond memories of stumbling around South of the Border with a killer hangover and a scabby forehead (stitches and all) after a night of drinking with my brothers at a quaint little W&M bar.

I'm sure Reed's is a fine west-coast ginger brew, but Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale gets my unequivocal endorsement as THE mixin (or slow sippin) ginger ale to have. Its got the spicy southern taste, and I'm pretty sure that theres white pepper in there too, just to put a little extra sinus burn in it. The first big sip is always follwed by a cough and a wince, but after that its all enjoyment.

Holly... I'm so disappointed. Booker's is much too fine a Bourbon to mix with anything but a small ice cube. So good I named my dog after it. When the sun beats down on you and you feel the need to mix before brawling take it down a level to the Baker's. It is good to see a Tennessee girl acknowledging the finer attributes of their northern neighbor though.

You actually enjoyed Aguirre?! That movie was terrible, the only part that made me not want to kill my professor for making us watch it was when the black guy gets an arrow in his leg and questions whether or not the arrow is real...
