We should all contribute to a “letter-winners” fund that would go towards the purchase of a “varsity letter” F that would be sent to outstanding performances by individuals such as Xav-Hi. A big orange F. And then someone could Fed Ex to the AD c/o felon/player.

And someone like LSUFreek could dream up fancy logos for certain offenses to mimic the sport icons on “real” lettermen’s jackets.

That would be cool. I’d give a dollar.

Think for a minute how difficult it is to accomplish something like getting arrested once per year of eligibility….

You’ve got to pick your offenses such that you don’t automatically get kicked off the team. Commit a crime too heinous, and you won’t be around next season to play in the Fulmer Cup pool. There is also a timing issue to be concerned with as well. Too many misdemeanors too close together would also make your head coach decide he’s fed up with your antics and send you packing.

Hicks has mastered the misdemeanor-suspension-reinstatement-practice-season cycle such that he has avoided losing his scholarship while contributing valuable Fulmer Points each and every off-season.

While not the flashiest performer, Hicks is a four year letterman in the Fulmer Cup standings. That’s something for the kids to aspire.

According to the WSU roster, Hicks is a comparative ethnic studies major. Since I didn’t really know what that was – I went to the WSU website. Among other things, the program’s students “critically engage in their civic responsibilities, especially with respect to social justice.”

In other words, all of this arrest stuff is nothing more than critical engagement in civic responsibilites for social justice. It’s research, man.
