This was when Gord still had his teeth. He’s had a upper plate for quite some time now and it has effected his singing. He sounds more nasally now, whereas before he sang with a slight lisp.

I have many many hours listening to Gord’s Gold under my belt, which is as described above, except that it
doesn’t have Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which is his best song, but that line from Sundown is one of
the greatest in songwriting.

For those who mock Gordon:

My parents said they saved their money for weeks when they were first married in order to afford tickets to see Gordon Lightfoot. He was playing in Cedar Falls, IA.

My parents said that he was completely shitfaced and he couldn’t remember the words to his songs and was mocking the audience when they requested “Carefree Highway.”

Memories of rolling through Grand Rapids, Michigan in my mom’s Aerostar are filling my mind. Goddamn am I glad we moved to Georgia. The pain of attending 10 straight GA/FL games and only winning 2 is nothing compared to the joyless life of an MSU/UofM fan. I am pretty sure The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was actually a prediction about the post-Saban era in East Lansing.

Gordon is a good choice. It takes a real man to sing “Pussywillows, Cat-Tails” and not sound completely gay.
