MICHIGAN FOOTBALL GETS CLEAN
Getting clean after a filthy, filthy, filthy 2008 must be of immense importance to Michigan. (HT: Maize 'n Blue via Buck Bravo.)

What does this even mean? Hold the soap? Does it mean “Get down and dirty”? Does it mean “Tackle slippery tailbacks well”? Or is this something tawdry about the shpwers at Mich?

Isn’t there a low hanging fruit tag that should apply? Then again, I think it says low hanging fruit is the tastiest, so perhaps not.

Real sign says “hold the rope.” Video explanation is here: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=50708290

I’m not completely convinced that “Hold the Rope” is much of an improvement.

Having lived in Ann Arbor for a bit, I’ll guess that the signage is mandated by city council ordinance.

They’re probably tired of the players intentionally dropping the soap in the shower.

Does “Hold the Rope” mean the Michigan linebacking corps will be coming out of the tunnel in an “Elephant Walk” formation?

“Hold the rope” was DickRod’s motivator at WVU. I suppose he figured no one up there knew that, so he didn’t spend any time thinking up something new.

Better than dropping the soap, I suppose.
Go Blue. Go Stanford.

The Vegas over/under for a “drop the soap” comment was 6, and I took the under. Ahh, sweet, tasty predictability…

“Michigan Man” and “snake oil” take on a whole new meaning.
(Not that there’s anything wrong with it.)

What were the odds on my “Elephant Walk” comment, Michigan Man?

I knew the recession was hitting Vegas hard…but damn.

Wasn’t a “drop the soap” joke implicit in the doctored photograph itself?

If a smoke machine is a rules violation because it is a “game day simulation” isn’t Rich Rod committing a violation with his simulation of a game day experience with his narration in the tunnel? It’s ultra-nit picky and minor sure, but it does look like he did something that is specifically against the rules in that video.

Michigan’s stadium is nicknamed the “Big House.” I saw the video and couldn’t resist to make a joke about RichRod giving a tour of the new showers and having to hold on to your soap in the Big House.

Hold the Soap means that Barwis has made you so strong you can hold onto a moist bar of soap no matter how hard it tries to get away.
Kind of like the guy who held onto the screwdriver in those old STP commercials. Well, he actually couldn’t hold onto that screwdriver. But you get my point. UM is working hard to hold night games and the new stadium has shiny soldier bricks. There might even be a morning game with black unis and unicorns.
