@22:

I've always found that argument funny as Tennessee Fans have always done the same thing with Peyton. (i.e. "So! He never beat Florida but... but.... he won a Super Bowl and is an NFL MVP! Where's Wuerffel at, Huh?!?")

I would rather Tebow win all he can at UF and do absolutely nothing in the NFL (for a team that I could care less for), than to win absolutely nothing at UF but be a great Player in the NFL (for a team I could care less for.) The NFL sucks.

By the way, how many SEC Title Games did Stafford and Moreno play in while at UGA?

@10:

You all were preseason #1 yet went 9-3 giving up 40+ points in all 3 of those losses (2 of which were to your 2 Biggest Rivals.)

"Gayturds". Wow. Original.

Nice how you resort to playing the "injury" card. All teams have to deal with injuries. Pay attention.

@ #33, I believe you've been misled by the AJC...it's ok, it happens. While UGA had injuries this past year, they were not unlike any other div 1 football program. The "18" referenced players with season ending injuries were definitely not all starters. Most weren't even on the 2-deep, ie. the scout team was decimated.

@ #10, step away from the ledge...or, maybe put the crack pipe down?

Regarding Meyer and the requested James transfer, the friction arose when James wanted to leave mid-semester. Meyer would have let him transfer, but not until after he'd gotten through the semester and the spring-training he had accepted under his scholarship. I do not know the reasons behind Vidal's request, but no way its conditions are as onerous as scUM and Shannon's.

Also, always enjoyable to see the true-dawg bark as presented in #10...I'd be embarrassed, but that's just me...

Even in an organization as arbitrary as the NCAA this seems like a ridiculous rule. Whatever the rule is, it should be clearly set out in advance so that it's equally applied to all players.

You've got to like the continued hypocrisy it shows: The NCAA keeps saying these kids are STUDENT-athletes. At the same time, they allow a rule that treats them exclusively as athletes.

Different sports and conferences have different rules. In baseball, where there's no full rides, kids transfer between major programs all the time, without losing a year of eligibility.

I know the Big 12 forces a two-year-sit when transferring between conference schools.

@ # 10, I think the AJC reported that the Dawgs lost 19 STARTERS to season-ending injuries, mostly linemen. The off-season will be spent rebuilding - knees.

Tebow is staying another year as a gesture to Matt Stafford and avoiding a quarterback surplus during the first round of the NFL draft. And avoiding the Detroit Lions.

Missed the picture (ti's down now); my good luck.

The photo of the "crappy situation" has been taken down by the blogger who put it up. Does anyone have another link? My sister is in a sorority at UF and got pretty drunk before the game. I'm hoping it's not her.

I think you’re off base here…

What Shannon did is despicable, I could see barring Marve from transferring to anywhere in the ACC but the SEC or Big East Florida schools? No way what Pete Carroll did is on the same level as that.

This is almost like signing a non-compete agreement.

These are big boy responsibilities and with that comes consequences. Players often make these choices WITH their parents involvement so its not like they don’t know where all the potential landmines are out there. Shannon is despicable in how he treated Marve but what Carroll did is well within his rights. Hazleton said that he wanted to be closer to home but what if he changed his mind and decided to go to say Cal? Carroll’s move was simply one of protecting his own teams agenda. Dexter Hazelton (Vidal’s dad) has shown more than once that he is capable of trying trying to put the screws Carroll so just to make sure he couldn’t do it again Carroll restricted Vidal’s choices.

Welcome to the real world…

It would also appear that you have a bit of a selective memory, its not like Urban Meyer hasn’t used his position to restrict a player from transferring…Florida Lineman James Wilson wanted to transfer to Wake but Meyer wouldn’t let him out of his schollie so that he could try to convince him to stay, Wilson did stay, but by not letting Wilson go when he wanted to Meyer’s move could also be seen as protecting his assets, just like Carroll did.

So what’s the difference? I wouldn’t put what Carroll or Meyer did on the same level of Shannon…not in a million years.

And in a nutshell there's the epitome of the Florida-Georgia rivalry in the 21st century: Georgia fans that used to talk smack by bringing up Herschel Walker or Lindsay Scott have been reduced to bringing up the Gymdawgs. Ah well, at least you have that.

To paraphrase C. Montgomery Burns: "Well, I say let Florida have its football and academics. Georgia will always be first in gentlemanly club life."

Wow, 4 in the past nearly three years. Luckily UGA has dominant tennis, equestrian, and gymnastics teams..if it is a question of national championships. All is not lost in the end.

I would gladly post pictures of myself crapping in a parking lot for a national championship OR exclusive pictures of Tim Tebow doing blow off of a hooker's rear end ala miami style.

Shame is for people who don't want it bad enough
