Once again, Chesty McSweatervest looks like a ’tard of a coach, and everyone knows, you never go full retard!!
If Texas had bothered to show up in the first half, this never would have been a close game. Fortunately, they didn’t so it was an entertaining game to watch.
I guess if you’re a tOSU fan, at least you didn’t get beat by 2 touchdowns this year

Folks, hit that link for more Nazi jokes than you can shake a panzershreck at. Thanks, Orson, for the fun.

ESPN won’t have the gall to campaign for the Horns for the AP title after that, will they?

An epic of bad football, but I had fun with it. Mack Brown is clearly exhausted and couldn’t enjoy an incredible comeback.

After that game, I’m very ready for the worldwide leader to get its greedy little paws on all the BCS goodies. I like my propaganda consistent and my coverage moderately competent!

ESPN headline is. . .THE REAL MCCOY (as predicted)
by jerseyredknight on Jan 5, 2009 11:58 PM EST reply actions
exactly how many BCS bowl games does tOSU have to lose before they become OSUx ??
by Mich-Placed Gator on Jan 6, 2009 12:01 AM EST reply actions
Complete Geek Alert
Did anyone else notice that when the tOSU band started playing the can-can dance it was weird, but it was definitely weirder when the Texas band decided that America was begging for a Zeppelin tribute halftime show. Way to fire up the 2nd half comeback with “Stairway To Heaven”!!!

“This is the best team in the country.”
You truly have no shame, do you Mack?
by John on Jan 6, 2009 12:02 AM EST reply actions
- - this is a trick question. The answer is zero. They’ve always been OSUx.
by Hokie Andrew on Jan 6, 2009 12:02 AM EST reply actions
Well, since USC slaughtered OSUe, and Texas needed a hail Mary, the Trojans should rise to #3, and if the gators and okies play a ho-hum, who cares kind of game, well, the winner, the Trojans, and really no one else other than Utah will deserve to be #1.
Be prepared, or not!!!
by TrojanRick on Jan 6, 2009 12:06 AM EST reply actions
Congratulations Texas! Thanks for 3 epic games in 4 years. It has been fun watching Colt McCoy mature…that kid is all heart!
by TAFKastOSUB on Jan 6, 2009 12:07 AM EST reply actions
The bar for Sux is pretty high. Maybe after they lose a title game 62-24 or lose to a team which lost to a 1-AA school with a Heisman winner on their roster they’ll deserve that level of disrespect.
Oh, and Mack and Colt are shameless. Geez guys, you (literally) slipped by a 10 point underdog in a game 98% of America picked you to win. A little humility, maybe?
by Steve on Jan 6, 2009 12:07 AM EST reply actions
After that game, I’m prepared to award 1/8 of a national title to Texas. 1/4 to both Utah and USC, with a whopping 37.5% of a national championship to either Florida or OU. Truly an honor, gentlemen.

When I heard Stairway to Heaven, I flashed back and started looking for my bong….until the fact it was being played BY A MARCHING BAND snapped me out of it.

Someone check my math… I believe the Big Televen has won one college football bowl game out of a possible seven opportunities which makes them… carry the one… 1-6 in bonus football.

Dear god ESPN actually went with The Real McCoy as their headline.

Bragging Rights Dept:
If your school doesn’t have 4 BCS wins and a 14-0 BCS National Championship season, or has appeared in 7 BCS games in 11 years, you can kindly kiss my ass and get to the back of the line. By my count, that leaves only USC, LSU, Florida, and Texas on the list of schools with bragging rights.
To the other 10 member institutions of the SEC and the rest of the country, you don’t get piggyback bragging rights based on conference affiliation.

BIG 12 DOMINATION!! LOL. Great game, I’m probably not going to sleep tonight. Fun things happen when these two get together. Hook ’Em Horns!

TAFKastOSUB—
Yes we do. It is in our benefits package as SEC fans. We only have to surrender a fine slice of our frontal lobes to earn it, but it is totally, totally worth the operation.
by Orson Swindle on Jan 6, 2009 12:23 AM EST reply actions
Ohio State can also lay claim to the exceptionally rare honor of losing back to back bowl games to South Carolina. Few schools can boast of that accomplishment.
by Hokie Andrew on Jan 6, 2009 12:24 AM EST reply actions
Look, when I predicted those first three headlines…those were actual predictions. I expected something as pedestrian.

Not that it matters dept:
Texas players on ESPNews saying that Ohio State was the best defense they played all year.
Mack Brown and all of the Texas players are all class – this series of games against Texas really has opened my eyes to just how great that program is and what a class act Mack Brown and everyone at Texas is – well done Horns!
Tough loss, but Texas was the better team. I thought for sure we were going to have a 2002 vs. Miami type win.

I feel pretty sure that almost everyone who’s commented on here or in the last part of the liveblog is kind of dick.
(I only bothered to read the last segment of the liveblog, because after that, there seemed to be no point. I didn’t see any analysis or anything I could recognize as humor, which is why I like to read this site.)
I’m just wondering: why is everyone still bothering to hate on Ohio State at this point? I mean, whoooo shame on them for accepting invitations to BCS bowls. It’s not like they kept the awesome SEC from getting their two spots. (That worked out well, by the way.) Their selection kept Boise State from snagging an at large. Dang.
They just played balls-to-the-wall defense for 59 1/2 minutes against a team that has just as legitimate a claim to being the national champ as say, Florida, their offensive line woke up from a three-year nap and actually played a football game, and they scored two touchdowns in the second half with their fire-breathing devil-horse sitting on the bench… and then the safety fucks up royally on the last play of the game and you guys feel the need to break out the Haterade? Weak motherfuckin’ is how I describe that.
So yeah, Ohio State sucks. They suck just barely more than Texas and Penn State and a lot more than USC, who would probably embarrass everyone in a playoff or plus-one system. It’s not like they lost to at home to a borderline top-25 team or some nonsense like that. They lost three games to legit national title contenders, one disastrously on the road and two on fourth quarter touchdown passes. Sounds like a sucky bunch of sucks to me.
I know it’s college football so we’re all supposed to act like retarded assholes, but there’s just no reason to hate this hapless team. If anything we should thank them for their amusing susceptibility to the Peter Principle. You’re not supposed to hate your patsy. You’re supposed to be grateful that his buffoonery has made you appear cleverer than you actually are.

And of course in the half-hour since I started writing that, people have chimed in with some reasonable comments.
But seriously, anybody who’s still putting any effort into hating Ohio State needs to get a life.
So does anybody who spends half an hour writing a comment on a blog.

Wow, I don’t really care about all the anti-OSU vitriol, it’s become reflexive here, (partial thanks to teh artist formerly blah blah…), but most of that liveblog is just embarassing…That was one hell of a college football game, and if people could not appreciate that game, it’s time to find a new sport.
Thankfully, we still have Dr. Saturday to provide an unbiased opinion.
No, wait, I meant “correct” opinion…

Pants—
We’re suffering serious Tressel fatigue. Like massive, toxic levels of Tressel fatigue. It’s a matter of aesthetic differences meets overexposure. Please remind us of this when Tim Tebow takes over the national consciousness for the next two days and the worm turns.

Fair enough, Orson…
Terrelle threw poorly, but he is a true frosh playing a team with a legit NC claim, and he did take them to final 30 seconds, so I’ll take it. He’ll get better.

29,
I agree that the anti-Ohio State and anti-Big 10 rhetoric here gets overbarring at times. I was actually rooting for Ohio State because I thought it would have been the more interesting story.
However, up until the last few minutes, this game was Auburn-Mississippi State on a grander stage. Tressel’s two quarterback system was doomed to fail and he should have known this considering the 2005 game against Texas. The Buckeyes offensive play calling, especially in the first half, was ridiculously conservative. I will give full credit to the defense for their first half performance.
Cosby gets that last touchdown because of terrible coverage. This was a fun game to watch to be sure, but for a true classic, both teams have to be playing at their best. (USC vs. Texas, Miami vs. Ohio State, Boise State vs. Oklahoma). Texas obviously wasn’t playing at their best, and I don’t think Ohio State was either.
Mack saying that he thought Texas was #1 was pathetic. Considering the performances of Utah and USC, it’s likely Texas will drop from #3 to #4.
by John on Jan 6, 2009 1:27 AM EST reply actions
I’d bet a bunch of money that Mack gets a large bonus should he end up AP #1. Or, he could just be recruiting already. Either way, I watched the game for the football, not the interview afterwards.

Texas beat OSU by a little.
Southern Cal beat OSU by a lot.
Texas also beat Oklahoma and some other bowl bound teams.
Southern Cal beat……..
In short, Petey and the Trojans can fuck off with their annual post (and I do emphasize post) Rose Bowl “we’re the best, no one can beat us” that they never dare spout during the season or before the bowl.
1. Utah
2. Winner of UF/Dirt Burglars.
3. Texas

#34, Joshua, Interesting insult -> “Dirt Burglars”. No insult for Texas? How about “Baja Dirt Burglars”, stolen form a golf writer.
And, what about your LSU Whatevers, who are about as relevant as your comments this season: How about the “The Armpit of America Tigers” .
A fan from Lousiana making fun of Oklahoma is hilarious. Like midgets fighting over who is taller.
