DAMN YOU LIFE AND MEETINGS
We’re out until noon because we have to close on Swindle Manor, a process involving us signing 438 pieces of paper and sitting in a realtor’s office. This will be thrilling stuff. A few things:
–Northwestern almost beat Mizzou both because their defense is much better than their stats let on, but also because Chase Daniel couldn’t throw the ball into Mexico standing on the border last night. He looked bad, just as he looked unpalatable against Texas and Oklahoma. This means Northwestern is on par with the Longhorns and the Sooners, or more plausibly that Chase Daniel’s reputation is as overpumped as his mother’s biceps.
His sister seems excited, though, in case you didn’t catch one of the innumerable reaction shots ESPN overtaxed the broadcast last night with:
–Patrick Nix wasn’t ineffective. He was held down by the petty, conservative people around him. God opened a door for him to go somewhere else, like back to Henderson State, for example.

Chase Daniel’s family was in attendance last night?… I had no idea.

So in two years Randy Shannon has fired his defensive and offensive coordinators? We’re talking epic managerial skills here, people!
As a Florida fan, I hope Suntan U keeps him around a long, long time.

The question I had last night was, who had the most airtime: Chase Daniel’s family last night or Brady Quinn’s sister at the Fiesta Bowl a few years ago?

Good luck on the closing. Those are the worst, Orson. The WORST!
Also, Mark Mangino would like to send you a bottle of Dom as a housewarming.
What’s the new address?

Thank god Pinkel got that big extension so he and the assistants he’ll never fire can run the show at Mizzou for years to come. I mean, doesn’t he deserve it after taking the most talented team in Mizzou history and winning a nail-biting Alamo Bowl against Northwestern? Don’t get me wrong, NU played a hell of a game and probably deserved to win – but Mizzou’s been a trainwreck since the Ok St. game. Maclin should run – not walk – to the NFL.

Orson, if the Realtor offers rustproofing, don’t take it.
Also fuck that game and its enticing spread.

“It is my obligation to review all aspects of the program and make decisions as to how we can improve as a football team,” Shannon said.
I guess that means Shannon realizes he must fire himself next?

anybody else see Intervention last night? The one with the chick hooked on dilaudin whose father rocked the Bama gear most of the show? She was classic, but her family was awesomely stereotypical Bama.

Coop says:
The sad thing is that Miami is going to waste all that S. Fla talent Shannon recruited last year, and possibly this year, for as long as they retain him as head coach.
Marcus Fortson at Carolina under John Blake, assuming they get rid of that D Coordinator and play somewhat aggressively on that side of the ball, would have been scary.

Counter Trap says:
Burn me at the stake comment of the morning: Randy Shannon is the black CoachaO, only without the personality or even the pulse if appearances are not deceiving.
Like Coop @12, the Canes defense spends way too much time misreading and reacting. With all that speed they could be causing QB nervous breakdowns and instead are content to merely observe like a pantheon of annoying Marvel Comics heroes on valium.
And to Orson: Is the manor stately?

I think that Miami article can more accurately be summed up as “Patrick Nix wanted to find a NEW way to make the Canes’ offense suck out loud, and Randy Shannon did not.”

If Chase Deniel’s could post his eye-popping numbers vs. Big 12 secondaries, Tebow would put up otherworldly stats. Tebow hardly throws picks against secondaries with real live players. He would be scary against a full Big 12 slate.
