gotta love the comments section on the texas page about the recruiting story, how offended all the longhorns fans are when in the story it says the mom doesnt think anything improper was associated with the longhorns staff. everybody knows boosters are paying off kids and throwing these shindigs, the schools do everything they can to get the kids there without actually being involved (hello middleman). Hell, one of the best quotes I’ve ever heard about this was attributed to a booster who shall remain un-named at a Florida quarterback club meeting in the late 70s. The guy is bitching to another booster about a recruit and says “And I had to go all the way to Atlanta to get that n*&&^#$ mother a yellow cadillac”. Everyone does it (although maybe not that big) it just happened Bevo got called out by a trashy, poorly written paper that hates Amercia, thats all

I’ll take my chances with Coach Stew. As least when UNC put nine in the box he threw over the middle. RR doesn’t have that play in his book.

I agree, there are some ifs attached to the whole thing but I think I could see Malzahn working out well in Auburn under the right circumstances. One would hope Chizik is smart enough to avoid the “Tony Franklin Experience” and commit fully to letting his offensive coordinator do their job unimpeded.

(One would also hope Chizik survives longer than 3 years against the whims of Auburn’s boosters, but that’s another story for another day.)

@9 Signal to Noise: It may be the Car Care Bowl, but two losses won the BE last year, and the offense I saw on Saturday was most definitely not the offense from the ECU and Colorado games.

When a coaching staff can get those kinds of passing stats out of the all-time NCAA rushing QB leader, they must be doing something right.

That “first one after the bad breakup” has wins over Stoops and Butch under his belt.

Just sayin’.

The difference between Malzahn’s offense next year and Franklin’s this past year will be that Malzahn won’t have to battle his subordinates. That, and Chris Todd won’t be playing (I hope).

I can promise Malzahn will take a long look at the QB situation, and won’t just outright hand the job over to KB. Neil Caudle apparently has his ninth year of eligibility, and Barrett Trotter is supposedly pretty good. Maybe we can get Ray Cotton back into the fold.

We still have major issues at WR as well. The offense won’t be #2 in the nation next year, but IF we give it time (something Auburn fans are internationally renowned for) and IF we recruit some skill players, it could be explosive. Big if’s.
