jacketexan:

When Arkansas and Cincinnati were scheduled many years ago, who would you have thought would haven been ranked? Are you really proud of Chatanooga? I'm not claiming FAU is a powerhouse, but look in the mirror.

Keep working hard, getting better and maybe you can beat Texas next year. Maybe.

@6 and @8, I'd actually take Northwestern's final-minute interception return to beat Minnesota as the single most exciting play of the regular season. It came on the same Saturday as Texas - Texas Tech, so understandably it got overshadowed.

As a Sooner fan living in Austin, watching this game at a Halloween party with 50-75 texass fans, this moment will go in the highlight reel of my football memories. The immediate silence and jaw dropping of every one around me was pure satisfaction.

Hey PatronSaint, OU beat the best team from texass. quit your whining you fucking pussy! BOOMER

Greatest single football play since George Teague snatched the ball away from Lamar Thomas. If your adrenal glad didn't come copiously on this one, you were either a Texas teasip or a channel surfer who did not comprehend the majesty of what he beheld.

As a USC fan the play of the year was Brian Cushing not holding on to a ball he should have intercepted at the end of the first half of the Oregon State game. If he holds onto that ball then USC is still within reach when Pete Carroll and staff go in and make the halftime adjustments that shut OSU down in the second half. USC wins the game and there is an even bigger brouhaha at the end of the season about who gets to face them in the BCS title game.

@ #27 What gets me about the Big 12 is how the always seem to job the Pac 10 so badly in the computer rankings. Too bad the BCS computer programs are secret.

Sorry folks, the Crabtree catch was the play of the year. Hands down.

And that's coming from a guy who probably had the most emotional, joy-filled moment rooting for my own team ever. On the road at Indiana, a few plays after Dante Love's career was ended on a freak helmet-to-helmet hit (which led to an IU fumble recovery for a TD), the Cards strike back with a 50-yard, off-balance laser beam touchdown pass from Nate Davis to Myles Trempe. In the grand scheme of college football this year, it's relatively tiny. For any Ball Stater, it was a moment packed with emotion and a sign that this team was truly special. I spent the next five minutes dancing in a happy, beer-soaked mosh pit with fellow BSU alums at the Chicago bar where we gather.

Crabtree's play blows even that away for me. I ran around my coffee table pumping my fist after Tech's dramatic victory, and I didn't even know why.

You know, as a Cal fan I really should hate USC and Stanford above all others. But I can't bring myself to do it, we always lose to USC and nowadays we usually beat Stanford, and I'm cool with that. You know who I really hate? The Big 12. Not any particular school (though man oh man does Texas strive to be the worst of a bad lot), the whole conference. Well, the Big 12 South, at least. Anyway. What if there were a college football conference dominated by schools who are utterly incapable of taking a bad break with any kind of dignity? Why, it'd look a lot like the Big 12 South! At least USC plays with dignity.

I don't have a problem with Oklahoma being in the big game, but I wouldn't have a problem with Texas being in it, either. Once you lose a game, there is a chance you'll be left out-that's the way it is.

Crabtree still made the play of the year though...

The Big12 South argument (and everyone needs to get over it).

I'm a Tech fan, first off, so I'm not going for OU or UT in this argument.

OU, UT, and Tech all tied for first place, which eliminates the head to head arguments. That can no longer be used.

Then it basically comes down to "who is the best team in the eyes of the voters between the three teams that are tied?" It does not mean "eliminate one team and then determine the best team based on head-to-head".

Once you dismiss the H2H, it is done and can no longer be used, no matter how many times you scream it. Voters chose OU because they thought they were better. That is the bottom line.

Isn't it amazing? You try to bring up moments that stand out and certain people why seem to like "orange?" have to show up and cry some more. Let it be known, Tech football and their fans believe as much as Oklahoma and Texas that the Raiders should have been in the Big-12 championship game. Tech is so bad as it appeared in the OU game and OU certainly is not so good as they appeared. Which team is best is irrevelant because they all finished 11-1 in regular season. That is a tie. They all got a trophy. The Sooners got to play in the title game because a a "Fifth" tie breaker. Tech got pushed down in the standings about two spots lower than UT did with their loss, which is predicated by the voters preference for "name" schools to gain more for less. OU won the Big-12 Championship game, so they deserved the opportunity to play for the National Championship. But, Texas being higher than Tech is hogwash. We beat Texas, npt with a miricle play, but with a play that was practiced over and over. Texas did NOT stop it, we won. Play the game again and they would not be even in the game because Tech would not allow them to come back again. Play Oklahoma again and, win or lose, the game will be very close one. Same with Texas vs OU. Play it again, it too could go either way. OU was definately playing the best of the three at the end of the season. Despite Tech's loss to UT, they and UT were very even. I will say, all three are better than any other team or teams in the U.S.A. That is why they all will win their bowl games and all will finish in the top 3 or 4 in the final standings. All this set them up for a great set of games next year. All they have to remember is to not allow anyone else to break into the group (re: Oklahoma State, Kansas, etc.). Enjoy the bowls and root for the Big-12. WE WILL WIN!

Really isn't that complex. OU was ranked ahead of Texas because most people believed OU to be better than Texas at the end of the year.

This isn't 'nam Smokey, we have rules. The rules say the higher ranked team in the BCS goes.

Heck, blowin' up the Oklahoma o-line ain't all that big a thang. The WVU defense did that all Fiesta Bowl long back in January, to the point where the officials could only call every fifth hold on them else every series would have had at least one flag.

I fully expect UF to continue the savaging that OU has been receiving in BCS bowls to date. The Gators certainly don't want to be the team to drop one to 'em now.
