Don’t know who will coach AU, but coaches seem to be more leery these days of taking over programs that think they are better than they are-and fire coaches too quickly when one thing goes wrong.

@ Herb – Gill doesn’t have near the resume that Johnson does. He had 6 seasons at Navy, and was wildly successful outside of his first year.

Before that, he won 2 National Titles at Georgia Southern, and got to another Nat Title game.

OTOH – this is Gill’s first HC job.

I think he’ll be a good coach, and ‘Cuse should hire him…but he has about 1/4 of the HC experience PJ does.

The only thing they have in common is that they both are guys Nebraska might regret not hiring someday.

Auburn’s interviewing Gary Patterson today in Fort Worth. He’d be a solid hire. That said, I’m wondering if they’ll swing through Austin, drop in, Mission Impossible style, and kidnap Boom MFer on their way back to the Plains.
