I’ll admit it. I can’t really get into the Smart Football blog. I’ve tried several times, but I’m just not that into it. My balls will remain contusion-free, however, on the basis that I don’t believe it makes you less of a man to just want to watch football.

I like my football games the way I like my hotdogs.
Gimme four with extra mustard, and let me enjoy them without telling me what’s in them.

Those who are actually attempting to forecast this game–COMPLETE WITH SCORES–are going to get their asses kicked by the windmills at which they are tilting.

I have no idea what to expect. Bama’s been talking to Muschamp and who knows–Sir Giggity, perhaps? Meyer has just as likely been communing with Darrell Royal, June Jones and the ghosts of Don Coryell and Bobby Bowden pre-new millenium-ish.

Note: That 9 1/2 is a gambling device to draw equal money to both sides of the equation, otherwise we would have no use for the designation “underdog.”

AOB, it depends on the intent- since we all know that each SEC school’s fanbase actually wears jean shorts in the exact same proportions to each other, if you see an actual UF student rocking it on a Saturday it’s done with irony (much like say a tOSU student wearing a sweater vest to the game). But there are a damn lot of those hats that are caught in the cameras on gameday in Tuscaloosa- I’m not saying that there isn’t irony there, I just don’t know. I sense it’s more of the visor craze that struck Gainesville during the SOS tenure, which was just plain old marketing madness sans irony.

and MPP, good idea- you saw what happened to FSU when they brought knives to a gun fight. But as my buddy said when I texted him to poke a little fun, he was right on- “Best kicker in the league.”

I don’t mind the old-school houndstooth hats, but the new nike houndstooth caps with the red “A” on the front are trash.

But, let’s put this in perspective. Which is more stylish: a houndstooth hat, or a jort + mardi gras bead/gold chain combo? Also, because it’s pretty cold in the ATL this time of year, will Fla. fans wear Canadian Tuxes?

Frankly, I’m not understanding how most pundits are all over UF on this one. I expect it to be a very competitive game. Saban’s defense versus Meyer’s offense. I don’t care for either Bama or, especially, Florida, but I’ll be watching with a lot of interest.

It’ll be closer than Lee Corso’s penis.
