Peter’s voice is shot, presumably from screaming at wall after finding out Texas was behind in the BCS to Oklahoma. This time, it’s weak human flesh that isn’t working, and we don’t want to miss out on the inevitable anti-BCS monologue that will knock his fresh vocal cords out for the next week.
Tomorrow, 9:00 p.m., we’ll hear it all. Blame a sinus infection in the meantime, and we’ll see you tomorrow.

As much as I never get tired of seeing an Ohio State University being made the SEC’s bitch, let them go to the Capital One Bowl where…well, I guess they would still be the SEC’s bitch there as well. But I digress, fuck the Big 10. If we’re going to see a team rewarded with a BCS game for playing a weak schedule, I’d rather watch Boise State. At least they’ll be entertaining.

Where is all this talk coming from about Ohio State as as a BCS at large team? There are 4 at large spots, and Texas, Texas Tech, Boise State, Utah and the loser of the SEC title game would all appear to be in line for one in front of the Buckeyes. I guess it could happen but they are hardly a lock.
Just as well, they should head to the Capital One or Outback Bowl, where Big-10 teams somehow manage to magically beat SEC teams.

It’s pretty much a given that an OSU will be the last at large team for two reasons:
1) There’s a rule that says only two teams from a given conference can get bcs bids, hence, Texas is in and Tech will be the odd team out there.
2) The big conferences hate sharing, and will already be giving a bid (and a slice of the BCS money pie) to Utah, so a second bid going to a non-bcs school is nearly impossible.
3) There’s a lot of fans of an Ohio State University, substantially more than Boise State. That means more people spending money on hotels, tickets, and local services, plus a hell of a lot more people watching the game on tv. It’s not fair, but money walks as they say.
oh, and yes, Big 10 teams do seem to do disproportionately well against the SEC in the Cap One Bowl – except for the Buckeyes who are winless against the SEC, regardless of location.

It’s a really shallow pool for at-larges this year, with the Big 12 and the ‘little 5′ each having four in the mix right now, and quite possibly no conference having a champ below #14. And with almost everyone done playing – including #6-#14 – the odds of a non-conference champ currently below #14 crashing the party is pretty small.
TTech and Okie State are out by virtue of Oklahoma/Mizzou and Texas being ahead in the pecking order. Ball State and TCU are out for the same reason – any second spot for the ‘little 5′ goes to Boise State. Once you eliminate the teams getting auto bids, and the near-certain second spots for the Big 12 and SEC, you’re left with Boise State or Ohio State – and USC if they somehow cock it up against UCLA.
