I just found this out, and its quite entertaining…
In 1993, after a late-game field goal against the University of Colorado, the Schooner took a corner too sharply and tipped over. The driver, flag-waver, and RUF/NEK queen fell out of the Schooner. This made national news because the queen was not wearing underwear.

Remind me again why Mike Stoops remains employed? He’s a defensive coach right? Nobody likes the slow death of the prevent defense, but I see now why teams do it. Let’s be honest here. Tech escaped the Texas game at home. They plowed over a Kansas team that isn’t nearly as good as they were last year. They blew out a badly overrated Okie State team. And now Oklahoma is eating their lunch.
What I’m saying is that Tech wasn’t that good to begin with, and I for one am looking forward to the significant reduction in Tech gear I’ve been seeing in the DFW area the last few weeks. You would not believe how many people suddenly remembered they went to Texas Tech after they skated by Texas.

by VolunteerValtrex on Nov 22, 2008 11:11 PM EST reply actions
@ Meth
The team losing the higher ranked school will get first pick, according to the selection procedures.
So if the SECCG winner is BCS #1 the sugar bowl would get the first replacement pick by virtue of losing the top team. If the big 12 team is #1 then the Fiesta bowl gets first pick.
by Steve on Nov 22, 2008 11:12 PM EST reply actions

It would be nice, but I doubt it. The nod will probably go to OU.
We lost to Tech. But it was evident that the Horns were tired and hurting in Lubbock. We were coming off a string of ranked opponents. OU hasn’t faced a string quite like that, but those are the breaks. Again, we lost to the Raiders.
Oklahoma wanted this game and they wanted payback for last year’s loss. I can’t blame them.
