As a Cincy fan I want Kelly to stay but I understand that Kelly can make more than twice as much with the Vols. The only real criticism people have said about Kelly is that he won at CMU and UC with another coach’s players. Well CMU didn’t have a winning season for 7 years prior to his arrival and UC is on the verge of their two most succesful years in school history. And he’s the same guy who won two national titles with his own players at Grand Valey State. Kelly is gregarious without being weird, the same can not be said of Mike Leach. If I were a Vols fan my big concern would be his lack of recruiting ties in the south not whether the guy can coach or not.

#18. Yes the color guy did mention he played for CMU. You could tell he’d get a little more excited for CMU, but it wasn’t bad.

I watched the second half after putting little people to sleep and agree that the game was quite tasty for a Wednesday night. Better than 90% of the SEC games I’ve watched this year.

I love newspapers. I still get the bulk of my news from newspapers. I was the only kid in 6th grade who aspired to be Mike Royko. I’ve worked in print in some fashion my entire adult life and I firmly believe that all reports about the death of print are grossly overblown. Yet if it meant Jason Whitlock would starve to death in some rat-infested hovel because no fool would ever again pay him to write a single word, I would firebomb newspapers and put editors to the sword from coast to bloody coast.

Re #3: I didn’t catch the entire broadcast. Did Ray Bentley (the color guy) bother to disclose that he is a CMU alum . . . and has a kid who plays for the Chips? Some folks can deal with that inherent conflict (Bob Griese); other can’t. Although, in fairness to Bentley, he sucks even when calling “neutral” games.

Big win for Ball State, but that was a B to B+ effort from these Cardinals. The D was horrible, the officiating was inconsistent for both sides, the announcers were two of the worse jag offs I’ve ever heard (who the hell puts an alum in the booth?), and the the student section at Central was ridiculous. Throwing snowballs at opposing players while the play is still going is fucking ridiculous.

Congrats to BSU. I thought CMU would nip them at the wire. Still, BSU’s marquee win, if not last night, is racking Indiana. Not exactly BCS worthy, but better than Hawaii’s “quality win” over U Dub last year. Or is it?

Utah-BYU will be a fun game and I couldn’t be happier about being a DirecTV subscriber with Sports Pack. It’s awesome. All I really lack in the TV football watching department is a modestly large HDTV with HD signal to boot. Unfortunately for my football addiction, I’ll be at mom-in-law’s this weekend. Luckily, I’ll have my awesome SO and her sister with me and they belong to my support group. We’ll survive. I’ll bring booze.
