A NOTE TO MICHIGAN FANS
Before the Curious Index, we felt the need to mention this: we had a dream last night, and it did not involve Nigella Lawson covered in Nutella. No, in this dream, Michigan actually beat Ohio State on Saturday.
This won't happen, as our dreams have an atrocious record at predicting the future. (Still waiting on the hang gliders for dogs we saw in a dream a few years ago, and we haven't been crushed in an elevator accident...yet.) Remember, though: someone's getting their head kicked in on Saturday. It's probably you, but sometimes, people are wrong about those foot-to-head roles.
Keep! Hope! Alive!

Didn’t ya’ll hear?? The Michigan vs Ohio State game has been canceled.
I couldn’t believe it either,but it’s true….
Apparently Michigan couldn’t make it past Toledo….

Nigella Lawson covered in Nutella
I now anticipate having this dream tonight.

Blatant homer creates post for a good excuse to embed You Tube clip of his team whacking tOSU.
I like it.

Thanks for posting this Orson….in all seriousness, my day started completely shit side up and has continued the same way, but that video completely brightened my day.
I wish OSU was going to Miami this January to play Florida again…

I like Ohio State in this one… it might be close at first but the Buckeyes will put them away down the stretch.

Oh – you like Ohio State in this one, ALGator? That, my man, is a profound statement.
In other news, the sun, which provides warmth and light to the planet earth, is hot.

Had not seen that video before…agree with #4 that my day is now considerably brighter.
41-14…the gift that keeps on giving.

Wow! I had almost forgot how easy that game was for Florida.
Now that’s the kind of music to set a video to.

On a side note…deeply grateful that youtube was not around immediately following the 1995 season…and that Nebraska fans still haven’t gained access to the interwebs.

@hlh: I was going to post something about how I don’t like Giada’a man hands, but the presumably NSFW website name pretty much sums up why that post wouldn’t be relevant.
Michigan should certainly be hopeful for this game, as there is every reason to believe the tUOS thinks it can just show up and win by 20 points. I have a hard time thinking the Bucks can score as many points as the spread is.

Bearcrawls, I’m fairly certain Nutella is NOT what you are thinking it is. European chocolate, no?
I thought UT wanted to “make a huge splash” with their next hire. Is Kelly more like a ripple? Regardless, I think he’ll be what UT needs.

Nutella is chocolate-hazelnut spread…similar to peanut butter…some of you need to leave your mother’s basement every now and then.

almost two years later, and watching youtube videos of that game still give me the same pit in my stomach.
Thanks O – you soulless – shit gobbling… piece of ….
starts sobbing uncontrollably
So, on a complete aside, lets just pretend for a second that there’s a scenario where tOSU makes it into the MNC game (just play along, I realize what I’m saying) – does the entire OSU fan base say, “no thanks” to the game this year and take a lesser bowl? Has a team ever declined a bowl offer?

Thank you for giadascleavage.com…superb decolletage tastefully presented on a petite woman in various locations…and the food also makes my mouth water.
And I’ve heard that Lloyd Carr may be returning for a temporary engagement? Any truth?
by sb on Nov 20, 2008 11:15 AM EST reply actions
Lloyd Carr returning #20? Why? To add to the punchline…
What kind of car does Jim Tressel own?
a Lloyd Carr…..
by Mich-Placed Gator on Nov 20, 2008 11:21 AM EST reply actions
#19: Clemson and South Carolina declined bowl offers a few years ago as punishment for their postgame brawl. Can’t think of any others who have done it.
by SpartanDan on Nov 20, 2008 11:50 AM EST reply actions
I seem to remember ND passing on a bowl game in 1996- something about it being “below them”.
Funny how life turns around on those with hubris, isn’t it.
by MikeLew on Nov 20, 2008 12:00 PM EST reply actions
Michigan winning this game would be the ultimate nightmare. Worse than any NCG loss. That won’t happen, but covering the spread of 20.5 might be harder to do. Especially since Tressel likes to button it up after ahead by 10 points, despite what Andre Ware says. And the inevitable TD with no time left to cut the margin, turd polishing as I refer to it, makes me not want to wager this game.
by Crabapple Buck on Nov 20, 2008 12:01 PM EST reply actions
Back in the Stone Age of college football (until the late 1960s), Notre Dame had a school policy against appearing in any bowl games on the now-quaint theory that preparing for them interfered with end-of-term exams. After that, for a long while, I believe they operated under an informal policy of playing only in New Year’s Day games.
Those days are long gone.

The same Michigan team that hung 41 on OMGawesome Florida managed one field goal against those LOLembarrassing Buckeyes from last year. Good thing interconference results only count in the mythical national championship game, or else someone might get the wrong impression about the SEC.

“Hes not that good, and never will be. Theres no anger in saying that, no resentment, and no bitterness. Its just what he is, a statement made free of predjudice, irrational reasoning, and malice. Off the field, hes everything youd want a player to be: polite, a good citizen, and a dedicated member of the community. On the field, hes Doug Johnson with slightly better wheels, and theres three and a half years of game tape to prove it.”
Sorry, Orson. I’ll never let you live that down.

My 9 yr old little girl’s FAVORITE joke, that she tells every person she sees wearing buckeye gear of any type:
What do Ohio State football and basketball players take their exams with?
- pencils

Barwis is suiting up at QB and the O-line will be replaced with his team of wolves. M will thus hang 72 on the tresses of Tressel’s girls, covering the spread… in the other direction.
I know this from the vision I had in my sweat lodge last night.

@ #35:
Hey, that’s clever.
I bet it’s been pretty tough for the Gators to take their exams with #12 and #13 pencils in two of the last three years. At least #2 is in the top ten.

Tork @ 32-
I guess having a QB that was literally popping his shoulder back into place after every lay, the all time leading rusher unable to play, the #1 receiver being hurt, and the field condition had nothing to do with UM "managing " a FG vs the mighty OSU. That’s one to hang your hat on.

After back to back Basketball Championships and being the only school in history to be Football and Basketball Champions at the same time….I’ll take a year of writing with crayons….after all we’re back in SECCG, possibly back in the NC game, and Gator Hoops appear to be back on track and very strong.

- John (and Orson)
There is nothing untrue about Orson’s assessment of Chris Leak. We won the MNC that year despite him, not because of him. I was sitting in the stands behind the endzone in Knoxville in 2006 when he employed one of his trademark slides 2 yards short of one of the most critical 1st downs of the entire season and untested freshman Tim Tebow had to rescue us. And I completely agree with the off-field good citizen part too.
by PW on Nov 20, 2008 6:12 PM EST reply actions
PW@42:
He had his mediocre games, and some might argue that he never lived up to his #1 recruit reputation. But what no one can argue with is that he played a virtually flawless game in the desert in January of 2007 and led his team to a national championship in his last game as a college quarterback.
And that’s not something players like, say, Troy Smith or Todd Boeckman can claim.
by rjsplow on Nov 20, 2008 6:56 PM EST reply actions
Highlights of the Gator beatdown of OSU with a soundtrack of The Rezillos? That beats the hell out of the crappy turn of the millenium cliche nu-metal bullshit so many people use. Good old fashioned punk rock will never get old.
by Ian on Nov 21, 2008 12:44 AM EST reply actions
Hey scalz1,
All you needed was a “I’m not going to make excuses. but …” in front of all that whining and you would’ve earned the Charlies Weis Bitchass Merit Badge.
Remember, had Mike Hart not inexplicably fumbled twice within three yards of the endzone (the third and fourth fumbles of his career, I believe), that game would have been a full-on beatdown.
