SLOWLY APPROACHING COHERENCE

We're slowly approaching coherence on Penn State's BCS status. Not quite there, but moving closer.

“This would be fine with me, because all a fan can really root for with the BCS is chaos, chaos, and more delightful chaos. A Penn State loss clearly does this, as it leaves Texas Tech as the only remaining major conference team without a loss.”

And with that, Tuscaloosa Pitchfork & Torch Emporium’s stock just went up a kajillion points.

Con point #3 – Amen!! Can we stop with the “JoePa sympathy/appreciation” vote bullshit? Its not a lifetime achievement award.

Sorry Penn Staters, as a fan of college football it’s my duty to hope an undefeated Penn State is on the outside looking in. It may be the only way to shame the Big Ten into agreeing to the plus one format. (See e.g. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10651231/rss).

I’m tired of the “Penn State has not played anybody”, “their SOS is crap”, “Big Ten sucks”, yada, yada, yada comments. In checking the CURRENT Saragin ratings and looking at SOS, Penn State is 65. Texas Tech who everyone has a man-crush on has an SOS of…64. That’s right…one notch better than Penn State. That 64 ranking also includes 2 FCS teams. Also, the #1 team, Alabama has an SOS of 55. Folks, there isn’t much difference among the three. I think this anti-Penn State backlash is nothing more than anti-Ohio State/Big Eleven backlash. Penn State is NOT Ohio State. I remember 1986 well. Sorta the same circumstances too. Just sayin’…

You’re tired? Then get some fucking sleep.

“Texas Tech who everyone has a man-crush on has an SOS ofÂ…64.”… and a victory over the number 1 team in the nation at the time. Oops forgot that part, eh?

PSU IS Ohio St. 2008. They might make it to the championship game. That much I concede. If they do, they will be demolished just as bad as OSU has been these last two years. They are not horrible, they are just vastly overrated.

I’ll take the field and spot you 21. Let me know if you’re game and we’’ll hand the considerations over to Orson. Just sayin…

Meant for #6. Sorry #4.

Touchdown @ 4: Too be fair to TT though, they have very tough games remaining against the two Oklahoma schools, they will end up with a tougher SOS if both they and Penn State win out.

I’d be shocked if the current top 3 all won out, and I’ll be very surprised of 2 of them do it. Most likely one of them will go down this weekend.

The SEC (and Big XII) are Penn State’s bitches in bowl games. They’re 5-2 against the SEC in the last 20 years or so, and one loss was against Florida without Enis and Jurevicius (both kicked off the team right before the game).

Four big wins against UTier-2’s; in every case, the UTier-2-ers were of the opinion that SEC/Big XII speed would give them the blowout. The last win vs UTier-2 even came with PSU playing with a rocket-armed drooling idiot for quarterback who practically giftwrapped repeated pick-sixes during the regular season if you breathed on him funny.

You don’t fuck with Joe Paterno in bowl games. If you want to relearn this lesson again, be my guest.

We should never deny an undefeated team a shot at the national championship because we think they have no chance of winning. Cases in point:
2006 Florida, 2002 Ohio State, 1992 Alabama, and yes, 1986 Penn State.

“There no way the slow Penn State can keep up with the speed of Miami.”

You want to be in the National Championship Game? Then don’t lose to Giggity at home. Otherwise, step aside for the teams that actually won their games, no matter how ugly.

After watching that ABC special, it gives me the feeling of a “Goodfellas” flashback, and Alabama is the gunman waiting for Pesci(JoePa) as he walks into the ceremony(BCS) to “get made” where there is plastic on the floor and he gets shot in the head as he says “What the fuck…….” as the blood spurts out like a
geyser…..
Alabama-contract hitmen since 2008.
And LSU, your coon ass whooping is coming, come on out and take your beating….Nick Saban hears all you crybaby fans, and for that 48-14 is what you get, with at least 14 pts will be scored by our defense alone….SEC loves freshman QB’s…..Nice article in ESPN about some LSU redneck twins and a bunch of drunk coon asses…..they can talk all they want about how much they hate Saban, it only makes him want to drive the knife deeper, then twist it via the scoreboard and the physical beating LSU will get…..Now that Miles dont have any of Sabans DNA on his team, we will see how far Miles can go, and so far in big games in conference, he is O-FER with over 100 pts scored on that wonderful team of his…….

Gindole,

I didn’t forget anything. And I will take that bet just like I did in ’86. PSU is no more overrated than the others. Seriously, who has Bama beaten? Clemson? Georgia, maybe. Thats it. Tech did beat Texas but also beat 2 FCS schools and SMU? Wow, pretty big of them!

And I am with M1EK…JoePa is a bitch to beat in a bowl! You SEC homers should know that!
